𝐈 𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐈𝐍 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐒 𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐖 𝐓𝐎 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐎𝐅 𝐁𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐒. I'm so caught off guard by the ringing that I nearly swerve my car into a lamppost. I've lived in this town my entire life, and I have never ever heard the church bells ring. This is the kind of thing Dad would tell me before I come over, but the town fixing the church bells conversation must've slipped his mind.

I'll talk to him later anyway. Right now I'm in town to see Lindsay. We haven't had the chance to see much of each other since she and Dean got married. They're still in that sickeningly sweet honeymoon phase so I haven't been able to snatch her away from him until now.

I'm not sure what the rule is when you have a friend that's married. I assume I won't see her as much because she and Dean will be moving on to  the next phase in their life── a phase I'm not moving on to until I'm least in my twenties. I know she'll always be here for me, but I've never had a married friend, so I'm unsure on what we can say or do. I know that sounds ridiculous, but I just don't want to be too in the way of her marriage with Dean, I guess.

Anyway, right now we're going to Weston's Bakery to have a steaming cup of coffee and share a cake because we're both on a budget.

It's snowing outside, and while snow is usually beautiful in our small town, I couldn't hate it more. I drove here, and my car nearly skidded and crashed three times── once because of the bells though. When I got out of the car, I nearly slipped on the sidewalk several times, and now my shoes make a squelching noise every time I walk across the floor. I'm freezing cold, shivering in the small cafe. My jacket doesn't feel warm enough and I forgot my gloves so my hands are dying for a cup of hot coffee.

I actually want to hold the coffee in my hands more than I want to drink it.

Lindsay arrived at the cafe before me, and when I walked in, I slipped across the floor but acted like I intended to do that by wrapping her in a hug. "Hi."

She hugs back, and I find that she's so much warmer than I am. "Hi." I squeeze tightly for a second, not wanting to let go as she's so warm, and I'm so damn cold. "You're cold, aren't you?"
