𝐃𝐀𝐃 𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐃𝐎𝐄𝐒𝐍'𝐓 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖, 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐈 𝐄𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐂𝐀𝐍'𝐓 𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐋 𝐇𝐈𝐌 𝐍𝐎𝐖. Shortly after Tristan and I told the real estate agent that we were taking the apartment, Dad received a call from Liz saying that she and TJ were in a car accident so he needed to leave and head to Maine to help them out with the Renaissance fair. He called me once he arrived and told me that Liz and TJ were absolutely fine and that he'd be back in a week tops.

He said that three weeks ago.

He still hasn't come home. He's called me every night since leaving three weeks ago, and while he's been gone, I have been in charge of the diner. Every time he calls, I tell him that I do not, under any circumstances, want him leaving this diner to me in his will. If I had to run this joint every single day, I think I'd hang myself. I seriously don't know how Dad does it.

Thankfully, I'm not alone in running the diner. I have Caesar who often annoys me but I'd be lost without him and his aid. I also have Lane Kim who my dad hired a while back, and she's an expert── even better than me. She's a hard worker, and while we pay her very little, she's still spirited and one of the best workers I know.

Dad called me this morning when I was opening the diner, and he's called me once again tonight as I'm closing the diner. He filled me in on Liz and TJ's condition, saying that he'll be home soon, but I know he'll be there for at least another week. It's been nearly four weeks, and I imagine an injured TJ and Liz are a nightmare, but you've gotta be there for family, right?

I've asked if he wants me to drive up, but he claims he doesn't want me to suffer alongside him so he's sticking it out. He's quite the man, my father.

Anyway, Dad still doesn't know about Violet.

I'm such a wuss, I know, but I just can't get the words out. Every time we're on the phone, I think I can tell him, but then I just close up, nervous that he'll react very badly which he definitely, definitely will. I can't tell him, not yet. I need to find the moment, as I keep telling myself.
