Adoration to animosity part 21

Later that day, Jungkook was discharged from the hospital, and the pieces of the puzzle in their relationship were finally falling into place. Jimin assisted Cheryl in getting Jungkook home, helping him settle into bed. As Jimin sat beside Jungkook, Cheryl abruptly suggested,

"Stay here, both of you. I'll go cook something for both of you." Jungkook agreed with a soft"okay," and Jimin smiled at her before she left them alone. They engaged in casual conversation until Jungkook asked Jimin, "Are you dating Cheryl's cousin ?" Jimin's smile faded as he shook his head, indicating that they were not dating. Jungkook inquired further, "You haven't confessed?" Narrowing his eyes. Jimin lowered his head and shook it again, saying, "No..."

Jungkook was surprised and questioned, "Jimin, why haven't you confessed to her? It's been a year now..." Jimin wore a bitter smile as memories flooded back.

*Flashback*

After persuading Cheryl to let Jungkook stay in prison for a while, Jimin decided to take her to her cousin's home. Cheryl's cousin was the only person who could lift her spirits a bit. Cheryl had a deep affection for her cousin, who had been like a guardian since childhood. Jimin wasn't ready to face her, but it was necessary for Cheryl's sake.

When Cheryl's cousin opened the door she was taken aback. The person presumed dead stood before her with Cheryl whose face was tear stained. Jimin controlled his emotions and gestured for her to take Cheryl inside first. Once Cheryl was settled in bed, her cousin approached Jimin. The sight of her walking towards him made Jimin fall for her once again. A tear escaped from his eyes, he wiped it immediately. Cheryl's cousin rushed to hug him with tears in her eyes.

She said, still embracing him, "You're alive? You can't fathom the happiness I feel right now." He tried his best to not respond but tears started streaming down his face. Ignoring Jimin's lack of response she stayed in that position for a while, but when she saw his face after breaking the hug she grew worried. She questioned placing her hand on his cheeks, "Jimin, are you okay? Why are you crying? And what happened to Cheryl? What's going on..."

Jimin pushed her hand off his face and said, "Please stay in your limit and leave me alone. I'm here to drop Cheryl. Take care of her. I'll make sure to visit her again. I'm leaving for now... You can ask these things from Cheryl later...."

*End of flashback*

Jungkook asked again, observing Jimin, "Jimin, what happened? Tell me why you didn't?" Jimin looked at him and smiled with glistening eyes. He said, "It's too late now... she won't accept me. I hurt her on purpose so that I can avoid her..."

Jungkook was furious; he said, "Jimin, have you lost your mind? Why do you even want to avoid her-"

"I thought after ruining both of your lives, it would be a sin to live happily with the person I love..." He replied.
Jungkook let out a scoff and said, "You know what? You're lucky."

"Why?"

"I'm weak right now. If not, I would've broken your front teeth." Jimin chuckled softly hearing his words.
Jungkook found it annoying, he said, "It's not even funny, Jimin... You never ruined my and Cheryl's life. You saved Cheryl's cousin's life... Now you're ruining her and your life.... Please be serious-"

He got cut off by Cheryl's presence. She was clueless. She asked, "What's this fuss about?" Jimin said to Jungkook, using gestures to not tell her about this. Jungkook remained silent, and Jimin said, "Nothing... just random bickering."

Cheryl smiled, and Jimin said, "Cheryl, I'm sorry. I have somewhere to be, but I'll drop by later to grab a bite." He felt bad for leaving abruptly, but his emotions were overwhelming. Cheryl replied, "It's totally fine, just make sure to visit again soon."
"Sure,I promise" Jimin said and hurried outside. Jungkook pulled Cheryl onto his lap, wrapping his arms around her waist. Cheryl knew deep down that something was wrong, she asked "What happened?".

Jungkook shared everything... She were worried for jimin and her cousin. Jungkook inquired "Your cousin is aware of what actually happened all these years or not?"
"She's unaware, Jimin asked me not to tell her."

"Cheryl, I think you should let her know now. If Jimin is hesitant, let's ensure she takes the first step. We need to bring them closer before they drift apart."

Cheryl nodded in agreement.
