Lucie? How does she know Lucie?
Brianna's head racing in every direction, she was scared to death when the door of the attic broke and her grandma entered, barking. Her tears making her vision blurry, Brianna stood up hugging the book tightly in her hands, terrified that it will not be of her property any further.
"Oh my god, Brianna! Why are you wearing the necklace of Elvim! YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS THING DOES!? Give it to me and put that book down! This is bad, bad, bad BAD! It is my entire fault. I should have stopped you! Give me the necklace! It is dangerous! "
But Brianna heard nothing. She carried the book up high above her and screamed at her grandma. Her grandma's gaze went up to the book, then back to Brianna's eyes.
"Why did you not give me this!? I was supposed to have it long time ago! Why didn't you give it to me, grandma? Why!" Brianna felt the more she ask, the more she understood. "And this is MY necklace. If it isn't mine, then this is my mother's, not your daughter's! You kept all this from me, you stole my right of getting to know my mother! You are nothing but a theft! Leave me alone!"
Brianna felt her grandma's eyes broke and she saw a shine with tears. Her grandma was hurt from what Brianna had said, but it didn't stop her from trying to get what she wants. Claudia plunged forward, but the girl with the glowing necklace was faster. Brianna ducked and crawled on the dusty floor while her grandma tripped, hugging the air, and collapsing on the floor. Falling and getting up was all what Brianna needed of time to be able to run away. She went downstairs, snatched her bag from the hook screwed on the front door, took one last glance at the raincoat, and went out without looking back. Not even once.
Brianna couldn't think of anyone to go to except Lucie, even though she knew her grandma would probably follow her there. With all what she encountered, Brianna was about to collapse and cry. She held herself up to the moment she reached Lucie's house. She banged on the door until Lucie's godmother, Adara, opened it. She ran into Lucie's room, smashed on to her bed and began crying. Standing near the dresser, Lucie left her make up aside and wondered why Brianna was there so suddenly when she was planning on going to her. She had mistaken Brianna's sobs and thought they were laughs of happiness.
"Brianna! WOW, GO GIRL! YOU LOOK SPECTACULAR! Dude Brianna this is the first time I see you wearing a dress. Happy birthday-"
Brianna had forgotten about her dress, her birthday and even the hair clip she had in her hair. Lucie slowly realized Brianna was crying and the words died in her mouth.
"What the- what the hell is wrong!? Brianna? Why are you crying? Bri?"
Brianna didn't have the urge to talk, she was thinking of what to do next, so she handed her the book.
"Read. This." Brianna mumbled as she sat down and wiped off her tears; she was embarrassed enough because of her sobs, so she didn't want to melt down again and sob more oceans. After 10 minutes that felt like ten years, Lucie finished reading and rereading.
"I don't- understand. W-why is Claudia keeping all this from you, Bri? What is the thing she feared you would know? And who is Dean?"
But Brianna was as confused and as speechless as Lucie so she didn't answer her. Lucie moved towards Brianna and laid down on the bed next to her. They both looked at the ceiling, and their thoughts started flying all around the room.
A lot of minutes passed and sleep started swallowing Brianna into the unconscious, but before she surrendered her consciousness, she woke herself up. Lucie was in her sleep next to Brianna, so it was Brianna's chance to go without her.
