They were on their way back to the mansion, with Arshina sleeping soundly, leaning on kylan. Her bare leg rested against the carriage wall, her body practically draped over kylan. It was a familiar sight, her seeking comfort in his presence. But as he held her, he couldn't help but wonder how she managed to sleep before she met me. Could it be- she probably didn't sleep much at all. Perhaps there was no one else who can offer her the same level of comfort and security that I do. I hope that I am the only one in the world who can provide her with that solace.i don't want anyone else to be that one. I want to be only hers.
"Mmm," she murmured, shifting in her sleep. Now her face wasn't against his chest anymore; instead, his hand was on her other side. She certainly knows how to stir up my senses.
Did I do the right thing by telling the Grand Duke about my past actions with his beloved daughter? I mean, any father would understandably be enraged if someone attempted to force themselves on their daughter. And here I am, married to his daughter for three years, yet neglecting her. That's precisely why I felt it was necessary for him to know in advance. If he were to find out from someone else, his reaction might have been much worse. He looked truly furious today - I've never witnessed such raw anger before. Perhaps it's because I spent half of my life on the battlefield, surrounded by blood, unaware of human emotions. But now I know them; I've even experienced them. Yet, seeing them firsthand is an entirely different story. I just pray he doesn't end up killing me. After all, who else will be there to comfort my sweetheart? Kylan held her even tighter, cherishing her presence.
"Sleep well sweetheart." he packed her on her forehead and closed his eyes.
After some time.
The carriage came to a halt, and he stirred, opening his eyes to find Ashina twirling his hair, lost in her own thoughts.
"What are you thinking, sweetheart?" kylan asked softly.
"You woke up," she replied, looking up at him.
"Yeah," he answered. She stood up and suggested, "Come out. Let's go to our bedroom."
They both exited the carriage, but as they entered the mansion, Lux and Abela awaited them, holding documents in their hands.
"Master... we need to discuss this with you," Lux said, addressing Arshina.
"Right now?" she questioned.
"Yes, Master... It's urgent. Please consider giving us some of your time," Lux pleaded, his expression troubled. Arshina glanced at kylan.
"It's alright. You go and come back quickly. In the meantime, I'll finish the book I was reading,"Kylan reassured her with a soft smile.
She nodded, and kylan left her with Lux and Abela, wondering what urgent matters required her attention.
kylan was already in his room, having changed into his night robe. It was quite late, and two hours had passed since she left. The door opened, and she entered, looking tired. She had changed into her nightgown.
Approaching kylan, she gazed at him with her serene eyes. Ah, those beautiful eyes...
"I'm sorry," she said, throwing herself onto his chest. He immediately enveloped her in his embrace. She isn't heavy, but I am worried she might hurt herself with such a gesture.
"Why are you sorry?" kylan asked, gently patting her back.
"I took a long time to come back," she murmured, snuggling closer. Her voice carried the weight of exhaustion"I took even longer than you."he murmured as he returned the hug.
"Are you tired, sweetheart?" kylan inquired, concerned.
"A little," she admitted.
"Then you should rest. We can talk later," he suggested, wanting to ensure she took care of herself.
