—————————————————————————
Lizu smiled as she saw the notification pop up while getting ready for her first day of college. The message was from her friend group, sent by Devu. Lizu didn't really care much about anyone apart from her family and her friends—when she said "friends," she meant only three: Devu, Addy, and Diksha. They had been close since high school.

She quickly replied with an emoji and tossed her phone into her bag.
"Yes, Dad! I'm coming, just a minute!"

She was ready for her first day of college... or was she?

Lizu entered her classroom. She was studying design, something she'd been passionate about since childhood. She felt proud to be living the dream she'd had for so long.

But as she sat alone in the classroom, she felt the familiar unease. Lizu had always struggled to find friends who were her type—mature, intellectual, and secure. She wasn't interested in unnecessary drama or immature behavior.

Her attention shifted to a group of classmates giggling together. Curious, she wondered what was going on.

"And you know what? He literally left crying!" came a deep voice, confident but a bit too loud.

Confident, sure... but why is he making fun of someone crying? Lizu thought, slightly irritated. Is something wrong with him?

She leaned over and asked one of her classmates, Akshara, what all the fuss was about.

"Lizu, come with me! You're seriously missing out on everything on the first day!" Akshara said, tugging at her arm.

"Is he really that special? From what I hear, he seems like just another silly guy from Delhi," Lizu replied with a sigh.

"Stop being so cynical and come! I'm sure you'll be impressed," Akshara persisted.

"Okay, fine." Lizu reluctantly followed her.

She side-eyed Akshara as they approached the group.

"What?" Akshara asked.

"Dude, he's exactly what I expected—just another annoying guy from Delhi. I can't stand his lame jokes. Please, I'm going back," Lizu said, exasperated.

"Suit yourself," Akshara shrugged.

Lizu stepped aside, taking a break from the chaos that had consumed her first day.

"Hey." That same deep voice interrupted her thoughts.

She turned around, startled. "Oh, hi," she said, feeling flustered. Why is he even talking to me?

"I'm Kabir. And you are?" he asked, sitting down beside her.

"I'm Lizu," she said, her tone flat.

"Why aren't you talking to anyone? Hating your classmates already?" Kabir teased, grinning.

"They're not my type," she replied boldly

"Oh, so you have a type?" he asked with a playful tone that felt a little too flirty.

Lizu's disgust flared. She despised flirts. No, despise was too soft a word for how she felt.

"Why do you care, Kabir? Go amaze someone else with your funny stories," she snapped.

"Don't be jealous, Lizu. Come on, I can tell you some jokes too!" he chuckled.

This guy... Lizu shot him a disgusted look and got up, storming off. Why did I even reply to him?

Her thoughts swirled as she rushed out of the class, feeling frustrated and disappointed. This is not how I imagined my first day at all.

"You won't believe what just happened," Lizu groaned into her phone, recounting the story to her friends.

Devu laughed. "Oh, so it's not even the first day, and someone's already obsessed with Lizu!"

"Come on, Devu, what are you talking about?" Lizu retorted.

Addy joined in, teasing, "Imagine if he actually likes you. First day, first love!"

"Can you all stop making up scenarios that will never happen? Ugh, I'm going back to class. I already regret choosing this place."

As she hurried down the corridor, a voice stopped her.

"Excuse me, are you a design student?"

"Yeah, I am," Lizu replied.

"Our seniors are calling you."

"Calling me? Why?" she asked, confused.

"You'll find out soon," the student replied cryptically.

Oh god, it's only the first day, and I already have problems piling up. This wasn't part of the plan.

Lizu found Room 205. Her heart raced. Should I just run away and pretend I never got the message? No, that would be even worse.

Should I go in? But I don't even know what's waiting for me inside. Why didn't I bring someone with me?

She hesitated outside the door, feeling the weight of her anxiety

Someone slightly tapped on her shoulder
