"But no one really knows me like Harvey, and once you've met him I'm sure you'll agree."

Evangeline found herself thinking frequently of that little dinner date shared with the doctor. She was a little shook by his insecurity, but she came to understand it, and it seemed as though he'd seen a great deal of things that had caused his shattered confidence.

She wanted to see him again, and she'd spent the last week and a half trying to run into him, but the man came to the saloon on strange days. She'd finally cracked the code, he came Mondays, Wednesday's, and Sundays. Which she found random but perhaps they worked best for him.

It was a rainy Sunday night, the woman had stumbled into the Saloon with Marnie and Leah at her side, Shane and Elliot trudged behind her.

"Oh Evangeline, I'm so glad that you're here." Marnie began, "You've been awfully good to Shane." She began, "I'm just glad he's a little less alone." She continued. Evangeline had saved the man and brought him to Harvey, it had been a very strange moment between the two of them, but the initial shock had seemed to snap Shane out of his frenzy. He was finally getting the help that he needed.

"He's good company." Evangeline said, she turned around and winked at the man, in a comical way. She knew that he understood her joke. Harvey on the other hand wasn't so great with sarcasm, at least, not the kind that had physical gestures involved. He could pick up on her strange voices and silly comments perfectly fine.

"I think a little celebration is in order." Elliot cheered,

"What for?" Leah asked in confusion, "Is it someone's birthday today?" She asked,

"I just simply want to celebrate life, and our newest addition to town." Elliot cheered.

"How'd you know I wanted to get drunk tonight?" Evangeline teased, though she really had planned on it. She didn't understand the sudden inclination to drink, but it came and went occasionally and all she could do was ride that wave without complaint.

...

Evangeline assumed that Harvey was not coming, and that was part of the reason why she was alright with getting so trashed. She didn't need him pitying her and talking about the negative side effects of alcohol not consumed in moderation. He was a little hypocritical as his two favorite things, coffee and wine, were terrible for the body.

The woman was not far gone, but she had reached the level of Pam, which said a lot about her mental state.

"So, Evangeline, I just have to ask, is there still no one who's caught your eye?" Leah asked, "I'm only asking because you definitely seem the romantic type."

Evangeline just laughed at the woman and thought for a moment, she wasn't in control of some of the things that she said, things that were reserved in the back of her mind were usually the first things to leave her mouth when under the influence of alcohol.

"There might be a contender." She laughed, and he had just entered the Saloon, though Evangeline was not aware of the fact because her back was turned away from him. "Yes, someone comes to mind."

"Who comes to mind? What did I miss?" Elliot asked, he'd been staring at the wall for ten minutes, though he had just returned to society.

"Her contender, she might have the feels." Leah shouted, Elliot smirked at the woman and furrowed his brows.

"May I join you three?" Harvey asked, there was one vacant seat, because Marnie was currently talking to the mayor at the moment, it was the perfect opportunity for the man to join the party.

"Oh shit." Evangeline said, she jumped up when she spotted the man. "Look away, I'm drunk." Evangeline said, her cheeks were even more flushed then they had been before, and it was not because of the alcohol. She began to grow a little anxious, she had not been expecting the man to come, and now that he had, it had nearly ruined her night.

"I've always wanted to see a drunk Evangeline." Harvey teased, why he was he so funny all of a sudden? And confident? The real Harvey would have been so shy and bashful. Maybe this was other Harvey, the confident and headstrong doctor who knew what he was doing.

"Well here I am." The woman said, "Here, have a drink, I really shouldn't have anymore." She added, she handed the man her drink, which she'd only taken one long pull from.

"I-, you-." Harvey muttered,

"I don't have cooties doc, just drink it." Evangeline teased. Leah and Elliot had gone quiet again, and now it was just Evangeline and the doctor.

"Just drink-" Evangeline began, though her eyes widened when the man downed the drink in an instant, "Oh wow."

"I wasn't always such a hard ass Evangeline." Harvey chuckled, "I used to have fun."

"Then you became a doctor." Evangeline laughed, "And now you read books about knee surgery." She added, she didn't meant to insult the man, but she'd gone and done it a little bit. He was a little hurt by what she'd said, but he felt like changing the subject because this was not her sober self, and sometimes words were just words.

"So, what were you all talking about, who's your contender?" Harvey asked

"I might be looking at him." Evangeline said, she looked at Harvey for a moment, then at Elliot who'd begun to pass out.

"What was that?" Harvey asked, though he'd heard what she had said, he simply wanted her to repeat it.

"Nothing." Evangeline sighed, "I think I need to go home."

"I'll walk you." Harvey said.

"Ignore anything I say." Evangeline said, "I really am not myself at the moment, and please don't judge me, some guys I've been with have judged me for this stuff." She added. The two were currently walking through the cobblestone path that led back towards the bus stop and eventually Magnolia Farm.

"I'm not judging you." Harvey muttered, "I'm just disappointed in you."

"No, that's even worse." Evangeline cried, "Please tell me that was your attempt at humor." Evangeline begged.

"I'm not disappointed in you, it's perfectly natural for people to go out and have fun every once in a while." Harvey sighed, "But I just worry about you from time to time." He added,

"Aww, don't worry about me." Evangeline said, they'd reached her gate, and so she was forced to say her goodbye's. "Here take this for good measure." Evangeline added, and she pulled on the man's tie, bringing his head lower to her, then she kissed him on the cheek and walked away as if nothing had happened.

...

Evangeline woke up feeling like shit, and she had remembered every detail of that night. She was not one to forget things that happened after drinking, no matter how bad things got, no matter how poor her mental state, she simply could not forget the things that had happened the night before.

The verdict was this, Harvey knew that she potentially liked him, and it had been made clear with her statement at the Saloon and even more so with the kiss she'd given him. Sure it was on the cheek, but it was a kiss nonetheless. She would have to pass it off as drunk actions if she were to be confronted about it by the man. She'd come to learn that the man had a shy and anxious nature, but he was somehow very confrontational. He'd brought up the contender conversation, and Evangeline hadn't even known that the man had heard such things. He could have kept things that way, but instead he chose to confront the woman about it.

He was a curious person, that was the leading force behind his sudden bursts of tenacity and courage. He would let curiosity prevail over anything else, and that was dangerous. Evangeline didn't understand why she felt that his curiosity was dangerous, perhaps because she didn't have her feelings figured out for herself and she didn't need any more confusion. A conversation with Harvey would be the cause for more confusion most definitely.

The question still stood, what did she feel towards the man?
