The father and daughter from the Qu family left in a hurry, seeming genuinely concerned about bringing Zhao Changxia and Zheng Yang water and food.
Zheng Yang said to Zhao Changxia, "Master Qu and Mistress Qu have been so kind to us. We've been working for a good while; let's sit down and take a break!"
Zhao Changxia had no objections.
They chose a tree, cleared some of the surrounding weeds and debris, and then sat down. Zheng Yang dug in eagerly, while Zhao Changxia only drank a few sips of water to quench her thirst. She glanced around and asked, "Zheng Erlang, could you teach me how to use the plow?"
Zheng Yang looked up and agreed readily, "Sure, but let's finish our work first. Teaching you in the middle of our task would waste too much time!"
Zhao Changxia thanked him and didn't say more.
Since Zheng Yang wouldn't be able to teach her how to use the plow within the remaining twelve hours, she had to find another way. However, the system didn't specify which three farming tools to learn, and there were many options. She didn't have to learn the plow.
Zhao Changxia's gaze fell on the sickle tied to Zheng Yang's waist. She said, "Zheng Erlang, you keep eating. I'll go cut some grass to feed the ox!"
"Okay!" Zheng Yang handed her the sickle.
After cutting a batch of grass to feed the ox, Zhao Changxia noticed that the "Sickle" entry in her learning status had been updated.
Both the hoe and sickle were easy to learn, but what other tools could she master in the remaining ten hours?
She looked around.
According to Zheng Yang, the busy farming season had ended, and the late rice had already been harvested. During this idle period, farmers let the land rest, so there weren't many people working in the fields. The conditions for learning to use farming tools were therefore limited.
"Forget it, I shouldn't lose sight of the bigger picture." Tools are just aids for labor. Even without the "Super Farming Tool," Zhao Changxia had regular tools, and countless farmers had labored for thousands of years without "Super Farming Tools."
After feeding the ox, Zhao Changxia returned to the tree. There was only one piece of baked cake left out of the six brought by the Qu family, and Zheng Yang was holding half of it. Seeing Zhao Changxia, he put the remaining half back and said, "Well, I see you're not hungry, but I'm very hungry. So, it's okay if I eat a bit more, right?"
"You have quite an appetite," Zhao Changxia remarked, glancing at his slightly bulging clothes, and took the remaining piece of baked cake to eat.
Zheng Yang instinctively tugged at his collar and explained, "You don't understand; we'll be working for a long time. If I feel a bit hungry later, I'll just drink some water, and it will keep me full."
After Zhao Changxia finished the baked cake, Zheng Yang noticed she hadn't touched the remaining half and tentatively asked, "Are you full? Don't waste the rest. How about..."
"Just eat it!" Zhao Changxia said.
Zheng Yang took the baked cake but didn't eat it. Instead, he hid it in his clothing and explained, "I'll eat it later."
Perhaps because Zhao Changxia didn't mind him eating two pieces of baked cake, and he didn't have the shamelessness to act like it didn't happen, he felt a bit embarrassed and said, "You wanted to learn how to use the plow, right? I'll teach you later."
"Thank you." Zhao Changxia hadn't planned to fuss over two pieces of baked cake, and his willingness to teach her how to use the plow was an unexpected gain.
