Or the next day, for that matter. Aaron was terribly worried of how Jack might react, Jack did not feel like having deep conversations first thing in the morning. He barely felt like interacting at all, let alone talk.

Jack was, oddly, in a good enough mood this morning. Right, last day of school today thought Aaron.

Other than the usual good morning they didn't talk much, Aaron worried about what Jack might say (the teenage hormones mixed with Aaron's attitude were not a good thing, he decided), Jack too busy organizing a post-last-day-of-school outing with his friends.

"Need a ride to school?"

"No thanks, Jonah and his mom are picking me up"

Back to silence. Aaron knew he had fucked up with that lie the previous night (he didn't miss the daggers Jack threw him a couple times), he also knew that if he brought up what happened now Jack might throw actual daggers at him.

"Oh, by the way, can I sleep over at Jonah's tonight? Three of us wanted to celebrate the end of the school year" asked Jack interrupting the borderline akward silence.

"Yeah, sure, no problem. The three of you, try not to set his house on fire tho" said Aaron, pointed look at his son.

To that, Jack rolled his eyes and raised his hands in mock surrender.

"Well, Jonah's here. Have a good day, see you later" concluded Jack, walking towards the door.

"Yeah, you too, have fun!" responded Aaron.

He dreaded having to go out of his house, knowing he was going to be on active duty towards a case he had no business being in. Though, he should have thought of that when the BAU knocked on his door.

"Are you going to stop complaining already?" said a very exasperated Spencer upon walking out of the elevator.

"Oh. don't worry. I'm literally just getting started" replied an even more exasperated Aaron.

"Alright children, stop fighting!" said Rossi looking down at the two men.

The three of them entered the room where the others were waiting. Needless to say, the profilers were doing a piss poor job at containing their excitment for the presence of their former boss.

Of course, Aaron noticed, and didn't hesitate to look at them sideways.

"I don't wanna hear it, I just want for this case to be over" he added.

God, don't make me come back was a futile request he knew he didn't really feel.

"Alright, there was the idea of momentarily closing the campus, pretty much no one wants to hear it tho. We should go back there and ask the professors, they might know more." started Emily.

"Got any ideas on who we should ask first?" asked Derek, looking at Aaron.

"Aside from the victims' professors? Not really. Doubt anyone would have a huge problem speaking to you"

"But they definitely wouldn't have a problem speaking to you" commented Rossi, sarcastic smile.

"Right, as if I had the clearance or the willingness to do that. I'm here as a consultant."
