There were old stories told to young children by grandmothers in the light of the campfire. All of these kids listened, not many believed them. These stories spoke of a world where magic was a figment of imagination, where there were no beasts that flew overhead forcing those below to rush for shelter. Where there were houses and places built by men so tall they reached beyond the clouds. Where there were beasts with claws but they had been confined to iron cages and far reaches of wilderness. Where man numbered in the thousands and had taken over the places animals had once hunted and roamed.
Of course, these were old stories and fables. No one believed them. They were impossible. How could man, a nearly extinct species, create these great houses when the beasts could tear it down in a second with their large wings and great tails? How could they drive back the wild beasts when they were less than a hundred in the villages that were scattered throughout the land?
But most of all, how could there be a land without magic?
Without the faeries that could manipulate nature and speak to the forest wide forest? Without the phoenixes that lived in the ashy land of the volcano to the west? Without the kelpies that lured people into the ocean on the promise of the best ride of their lives? Without the mermaids that could make you fall in love with just a kiss?
It simply didn't make sense how this land could exist. Not with the gryphons that cried out from the hills north of the mountain range. And especially not with the dragons that lived high in the northern mountains, posing a looming threat over the whole race of man.
But a lot of impossible things have happened on Prithviok.
And they all began with something seemingly... ordinary.
Heyo. This is my first time writing an original piece of work. Nothing in here is fanfiction or from someone else. It's all me. That being said, I do own everything in this world. It's my version of dragons, phoenixes, mermaids, gryphons and everything else I mentioned. As well as my own world and story. They are mine and no one is allowed to copy or rewrite them without my consent.
That being said, buckle in and I hope you like it.
