"Whatever you want, want, I'll give you everything for sure"

It had just turned october, which meant a number of different things for taehyung.
one, his schoolwork was amping up as it was nearing midterms, which meant he had to invest a lot more of his time into writing papers and studying for exams. two, the leaves on campus were beginning to change color and the weather was getting cooler by the day, making it feel more like fall- which taehyung enjoyed considering it's his favorite season. three, that halloween was slowly approaching and taehyung was overhearing conversations about parties and costumes a lot more frequently. and last but not least, four, that jimin's birthday was just around the corner.
taehyung knew that it would be weird for him to make jimin's birthday such a big deal, so that was not his intention. however, he still felt that it would be nice to at least wish him a happy birthday. maybe he could even gift him a little something that wasn't too weird to give to someone he's seemingly met two times.
the problem was that jimin didn't know that taehyung knew it was his birthday, and that alone was enough for taehyung to back off all together. he couldn't just go up to jimin and wish him a happy birthday randomly, that would definitely be off-putting for the other, even if they were on a first name basis now.
taehyung still has to remind himself that he doesn't know jimin like that. he may watch all of his streams, he may know how one of his front teeth are slightly crooked, and he may now know how it sounds when jimin slips his name from his mouth- but that doesn't mean that he knows jimin personally. it was a hard pill for him to swallow, but it was crucial that he did.
he knew that in two weeks, when it hit jimin's birthday, that he couldn't suddenly act like they were best friends. and for a moment in the back of his mind, taehyung wondered if jungkook would be who jimin celebrated with.
taehyung ignored the ways in which his heart twisted and stomach felt slightly off at that notion, recognizing the emotion as jealousy. taehyung didn't want to be jealous. in fact, jungkook was a great coworker and an even greater guy. and he was surely a great friend to jimin from what taehyung overheard and witnessed at the coffee shop the other day. he couldn't help it, though, as jungkook possessed the closeness to jimin that taehyung longed for. there's almost nothing that taehyung wouldn't give to hear jimin's melodic laugh on a daily basis. he wished nothing more than to know every aspect of his favorite streamer.
but that would have to wait, and taehyung knew that it was better for him to put off his own wants in the favor of keeping jimin in his life at all. he didn't want to scare the other away or make him uncomfortable, in fact that had to be the last thing that he wanted.
shaking his thoughts from his head, taehyung regained consciousness of his surroundings. he was situated on the second floor of the campus library at a small table near the far corner. there were a few bookshelves surrounding him, displaying all sorts of textbooks that have rarely been touched in years, blocking off his view from the left. the library itself was dressed in warm woods and ambient lighting, green and brown infiltrating the vintage furniture and offering a homey feeling. the large window to taehyung's right offered a view to some of the campus buildings, behind them a sky painted light purple. it was after sunset, and taehyung was sure it would be dark by the time he left.
it was quiet, aside from the occasional typing and scribbling done by the few other students dotted around him along with the light whispers from nearby groups. it was the perfect place to get any sort of academic work done.
he blinked, looking up at his open laptop which had a blank document splayed across the screen of it. he was supposed to be starting the paper he had to write for his philosophy class, yet he had completely forgotten as he dozed off. he's always had problems with his thoughts straying as he's trying to get work done, however it's been especially potent lately.
