The steam from the coffee swirled up from the frosty morning air. Taylor stifled a yawn and leaned back in the chair. There was something about this place. A feeling she thought was lost forever. Was it peace? Letting the warmth from the mug warm her fingertips she pulled the thin throw blanket tighter and let her mind wander.
The previous night her and Travis killed two bottles of wine and lost themselves in conversation. She had never connected so fast with anyone before like she did with this beautiful man. Everything was so perfect and felt so damn right. He was a family man, and incredibly passionate about his career ultimately crossing over into being a hard worker. Very humble, and always the perfect gentleman. The best part of all? She got this overwhelming sense of peace and safety around him. He was interested in Taylor without all the glitz and glamour.
They had eventually switched to watching some movies on Netflix and she was happy to see that he was as animated as her while watching. She didn't have to hold in her thoughts or comments. At some point in time she must have fallen asleep because she woke to the faint morning light in one of the guest rooms with a blanket carefully placed over her and her shoes on the floor beside the bed. She could cry at the sweet gesture. After texting Drew that she was okay and asking if he could get her stuff from the hotel room so she could change and freshen up, Taylor decided to get up and hunt down the coffee machine.
After tying her hair back in a messy bun and throwing the blanket around her shoulders she padded into the front area. It was only around 7am so she wasn't sure if Travis was up yet. No matter how late she stayed up she had never been able to sleep in. The morning sun was her alarm clock since she was a child. Drew showed up 10 minutes later and she quickly changed into some shorts and an oversized Fleetwood Mac t-shirt before continuing on her hunt.
After a short amount of time wondering around she eventually stumbled upon the kitchen and was happy to see an elaborate coffee setup on one of the counters by the stove. Humming quietly to herself while looking for a mug ,she couldn't help but wonder why a man who by his own confession sucked at cooking had such an elaborate setup with everything a chef could want. Taylor had to stop herself from whipping up an elaborate breakfast spread. Probably too much.
Right off the kitchen was the sliding door opening out to the deck. The fresh morning air drew her in and now sitting on the chaise lounge she was satisfied with her choice. The morning songs of the birds and the calm was just what she needed. A little after 8am Taylor was pulled out of her thoughts by the sliding door opening and Travis stepping outside. She about dropped her coffee when he came into view. Wearing only a t-shirt and sweatpants with tousled sleep hair he was the definition of perfection.
"I see you found the coffee?" He sat next to her draping the fleece he had brought out around her shoulders softly.
"Yea, its a need in the morning." She chuckled softly, "sorry for just invading your space and falling asleep on you last night!"
"Don't apologize Tay. It is perfectly okay. Just means I get to spend more time with you." Travis reached up and brushed a stray curl behind her ear and she couldn't help but lean into his hand closing her eyes in content.
What was this man doing to her?
"You look so beautiful" The words came out as a whisper from his lips and she let out a little giggle.
"I doubt that. My makeup is probably all smudged and my hair is a complete mess with tangles for days."
"I don't see it."
"Well that makes one of us."
Travis leaned in and planted a soft kiss on her cheek causing Taylor to melt.
