Harry hid a grimace as he walked through the masses of people who tried to do anything to get a mere glimpse of The-Man-Who-Conquered as he exited the bank.

He felt numb, but he couldn’t show it as he made his way to Grimmauld Place, one of the only properties that Ginerva (Previously Potter) Weasley had ‘deigned’ to leave him after being married to him for five years, only to immediately divorce him the moment he caught her cheating. Or at least, that was what she’d thought.

Unluckily for her, he’d never been stupid enough to add any of his other inheritances to the Potter Vaults as he said he’d done, at her insistence, and she was left with the bare minimum in terms of money and properties, as the Potter vaults hadn’t been that full anymore after Dumbledore got through with them when she requested only the Potter vaults as compensation. He’d never informed her about the rest, as she’d never thought to ask.

And wasn’t that another kick in the teeth? He thought as he entered the house and left the masses behind.

Only a few individuals have proven themselves loyal to him out of all the people he knew, while the rest had either been stealing from him or using his name to further their own goals.

His anger pulsed and he felt an answering pulse from the wand hidden in the pocket against his heart. He paused and removed the Elder Wand from his pocket while slightly scowling at it. “Fine, you were right, but it's not my fault that I never held you until after the battle so there was nothing I could do to change the outcome that already occurred.”

He walked to the living room, intent on merely pouring himself something to drink, grabbing a good book, and then maybe falling asleep. He was exhausted.

A hollow-sounding chuckle echoed around the room and Harry slowly turned to face the being that now sat on one of the sofas in the living room. A few years back he would have jumped at the sudden sound, but Death’s company was already a constant for him, not that he’d revealed the being’s existence to anyone else.

“We both know what you want, but ask Harry… ask and I shall give it to you but you better be willing to pay the price, even as my master.” Death leaned back while staring at him with those eyes of his. Eyes that already knew the outcome of the decision before Harry even made it.

“I know the price…one soul for each soul I wish to save, and more if I want them to live longer than the years that have been bought by the initial sacrifice.” It was a steep price, or so he would’ve thought a few days ago, but now? Now he wanted to pay the guilty ones back for all the pain they have ever caused him. And they would pay with their lives.

He looked at Death and nodded. Why not? It's not as if he had anything left to keep him here, nothing except his few trusted friends of course…but he knew that they would let him go, once he got up the courage to tell them.

Harry suppressed a flinch…yeah they would accept it…after they flayed him alive for keeping secrets.
