Chapter 17.
Lectora's POV:
Flying on the backs of the thestrals was an amazing experience - but so scary! It was nothing like flying on a broom, it was completely different: but a good different! I let out a 'whoooo!' as we flew through the night air. It was a warm night; it was nearly summer.
Florrie looked determined as she flew along on her thestral, Harry sitting behind her, his arms around her waist so he wouldn't fall. We were both determined to end Voldemort if he was there. Harry was certain Voldemort would be there - he'd seen it in his dreams. Florrie had changed so much, but it was good. If we got angry enough our powers would be stronger. Nothing was going to stop us.
Nothing.
The others that came with us (Ginny, Luna, Ron, Hermione, Nev and Harry) all looked ready - ready to fight for Harry. We all were.
***
We finally arrived and Harry led the way to the 'Department of Mysteries' . I felt quite nervous, something wasn't right. I could feel it; this part of the Ministry was creepy. Neville grabbed my hand - he looked as nervous as I felt. I squeezed his hand and continued on, following Harry. Florrie was using her fire powers to light a way in front of us. We all walked on, our wands pointed out in front of us - all lit up, thanks to the 'lumos' spell.
We walked through another door and saw white orbs, filled with smoke, all perched on shelves.
"We're here, Sirius should be here. I saw it!" Harry said, leading the way. My stomach twisted with nerves; Please let Sirius be alive.
"What are they?" I wondered to Florrie, pointing to the orbs. She narrowed her eyes at them.
"I don't know, but I don't like this one bit." She responded, her voice strong. I agreed with her and stuck close to Neville. We slipped through all the shelves, hundreds of the white orbs perched everywhere.
"Harry," came Hermione's voice through the darkness. She sounded shocked. We all turned around to see what was going on; Hermione had paused in front of one of the orbs. "This one has your name on it."
Harry's eyes widened and he stepped forward and then pulled his orb off the shelf, holding it in his hand. "But . . . Why?" He asked, looking into the white smoke.
Suddenly we all heard a soft, whispery voice coming from the orb:
"The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches . . . born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies . . . and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not . . . and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives . . . the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies . . ."
"It's a prophecy," Harry told us. "My prophecy."
We all had no idea what to say. So much had happened in such a small amount of time. Wow.
"Itty bitty baby Potter," hissed a dark voice from behind Hermione. I jumped, my heart beating wildly. I didn't recognise the voice. We all whirled around but there was no one there.
"Finally found something of importance!" The voice - a woman's - cackled. It was a horrible noise and I flinched. The voice was in front of us now, and I saw a woman with wildly, black hair appearing from the shadows. She had a crazed look about her.
"B-Bellatrix Lestrange" Neville stammered beside me, clutching my hand tightly. He was shaking slightly. I recognised the name, she'd tortured Nev's parents and was locked up in Azkaban for it.
"Is that? - it is! You're the Longbottom boy!" Bellatrix said, stepping closer to us. We both stepped back. "How's mummy and daddy?"
"Leave him alone!" I yelled, pointing my wand at her. Her dark eyes flicked to mine and a smile spread across her face.
"And you are?"
"Lectora Black," I said, my hands curled into fists.
"Ooh . . . A Black." Bellatrix said, stepping back and looking into the shadows excitedly. "This will be good."
"Now now, Mr. Potter, just give me the Prophecy and we'll be on our way. I promise." Said a soft, slimy voice. Lucius Malfoy appeared beside Bellatrix, his face neutral. Ugh . . . It's the Malfoy git! Other Death Eater appeared from other angles, all around us.
"Why should I?" Harry said coldly, stepping forward.
"Well, Mr. Potter, if you give it to me, I could help you understand it," Malfoy said. "Because you have no idea what it means, do you?"
"He's lying, Harry!" Florrie yelled, standing next to Harry and glaring at Malfoy and Bellatrix.
"Ah . . . Florence and Lectora Black . . . What a pleasure," Malfoy sneered. We both glared, remembering the last time we saw Malfoy: in the Graveyard.
"Hand over the prophecy and no one need get hurt," said Malfoy coolly. Harry let out a laugh.
"Yeah, right!" he said. "I will give you this -- prophecy? And you'll just let us skip off home, will you?
"Give me the prophecy, or we start using wands, Potter." Malfoy spat, his hand outstretched for the prophecy.
"Oh, really?" Florrie said, in a soft voice. "Let's start, then."
A gleeful smile appeared on my lips at her words and I gave her a sly wink. She winked back and flames flickered above her palms.
Harry glanced at all of us, and gave a small nod. "NOW!" He yelled, pointing his wand at Malfoy. "Expulso!"
Spells were shot from every angle.
"Difindo!"
"Expulso!"
"Exspelliarmus!"
Then we ran on, Harry still clutching the prophecy. I occasionally went invisible, and tripped the death eaters up, or stole their wands, but it was tiring. Florrie used her elemental magic, too. Harry knocked one shelf down, which caused others to fall - like a domino effect. Glass and white smoke filled the air.
"Hurry!" Harry called back; we all continued running, shooting spells behind us. My heart was thumping loudly. We edged towards a cliff and with a nod from Harry, we jumped. Hermione cried a spell and we floated to the ground.
I got to my feet. We'd arrived in an empty space, apart from some kind of arch. Suddenly, blackness covered my vision. When I came to, I saw I was being held by someone. A quick glance around the ... Room? Space? Told me everyone - except Harry - was being held by a different Death Eater as well. Neville was struggling against Bellatrix Lestrange and he caught my eye; his green eyes full of fear. Bellatrix brought her wand up and held it against his throat. His eyes widened.
I saw it was Yaxley holding me, his wand at my throat and I kicked at his legs, trying to get free.
"Well, well, Mr. Potter. Look what you've caused." Malfoy said, tutting.
"Leave him alone!" Florrie yelled furiously. I closed my eyes and tried to go invisible, but Yaxley, wise to my tricks, kept a firm hold on my wrist. I glared at him and then it hit me - if I morphed into an animal small enough I could break free from Yaxley's hold. I looked over at Florrie, trying to catch her eye. She looked up and I have her a look then mouthed at her. "Your powers."
She nodded and formed a ball of fire in her hands, making it float towards Malfoy. I immediately morphed into a mouse, easily slipping out of Yaxley's grip. He cried out as I ran and then became myself again. Then I went invisible. Florrie used her nature magic to make a huge vine come out of the ground and trip Malfoy.
"Are you willing to let your friends die-?" Was the last thing he said before getting tripped.
"Who said we were dying?" Florrie and I said together. "It's only just begun."
