plot. şayeste is married to sultan mustafa i by safiye sultan's order to consolidate his power; after his restoration in 1622, şayeste took on a major role in the governance of the ottoman empire, clashing with valide halime sultan, who she eventually will overcome, becoming de facto regent of the empire in mustafa's stead. mustafa is killed in 1630 in a conspiracy against şayeste, and she becomes a concubine within murad iv's harem after being widowed.
