Chapter 20 New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve had finally arrived, and the Zulu family was gathered in the lounge, surrounded by the warmth of the fireplace and the soft glow of the Christmas lights. The makotis were sipping wine, while their husbands enjoyed whiskey. Bab'Zulu stood up, a smile on his face, and began to speak.

"My dear family, I just want to take a moment to express how grateful I am that we are all here together

"My dear family, I just want to take a moment to express how grateful I am that we are all here together. We've had our ups and downs, but we've never let our differences break us apart. And for that, I am truly thankful."

The room erupted in cheers and applause, and Mam'Zulu nodded in agreement. "Yes, my love, we are blessed to have such a loving family."

As the countdown to midnight began, the family joined in, their voices growing louder with each passing number. "10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... HAPPY NEW YEAR!"

The room exploded in cheers and hugs, with the makotis and their husbands embracing each other tightly. The family was laughing and dancing, their faces shining with excitement.

Mam'Zulu raised her hands, and the room fell silent. "Let us pray and thank the Lord for blessing us to see this new year," she said, her voice filled with gratitude.

The family bowed their heads, and Mam'Zulu began to pray. "Dear Heavenly Father, I come before you with a grateful heart, thanking you for the gift of a new year. I praise you for the blessings and opportunities that lie ahead, and for the chance to start anew. I thank you for my family, and I ask that you bless and protect them throughout the coming year. Keep us safe, healthy, and united in love. Help me to be a source of strength, encouragement, and support to my loved ones, and may our relationships be filled with your love, joy, and peace. May this year be filled with opportunities for us to grow closer to you and to each other. May we be a shining example of your love and grace to those around us. Thank you for your guidance, protection, and provision. I trust in your goodness and sovereignty. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen."

As the prayer ended, Bandile stood up and whispered to Amahle, "Singahamba manje sithandwa sami?"

Amahle said her goodnights and followed him. She got to the room and Bandile instantly showered her with kisses. "Sthandwa sami ngiyazi uhlezi ucabanga ukuthi angimelani nawe angikaze ngibe kwiside lakho but trust me, I am. I'm just protecting you because I love you,Angithandi uma silwa mama.It's a new year, new slate, mkami ngiyakucela."

Amahle was about to say something until she heard Bandile snoring. She pulled the blanket and gave him a kiss. "Ngikuthanda noma uhlanya," she said, smiling.

As she drifted off to sleep, she knew that this new year would bring new challenges, but she was ready to face them head-on, surrounded by her loving family.
