Finally listened to all the songs in TTPD
The Anthology is next...Shut up, I know I'm late 🙁😂
But don't worry I was patiently waiting on April 19th for it but something came up and I couldn't listenI watched the Fortnight MV though as soon as I could (the next day at night)
I initially though TTPD was gonna suck for me. I'm not really sad person overall but when I found out about the literature in the lyrics...
I took a head dive and I haven't regretted it yet 🤷♀️
Finding contradictory lyrics to songs and things that happens was so fun!
Like...
New Romantics and Down Bad have opposing bridges which makes me like to think that TTPD is the opposite of 1989.
We already got Lover's opposite (Midnights) and folklore (evermore) so I like to pair up albums as opposites.
Songs too but that's a different story (London Boy & So Long, London (for obvious reasons))

THEORIES ft ME!1989 vs TTPD
1989 is really preppy album. Upbeat lyrics, minimal to little curse words but then TTPD comes in grayscale, with seemingly depressing instrumentals and deep lyrics with haunting undertones and a bathtub of curse words 😂
Lover vs Midnights
Lover's cover features a happy Taylor with a backdrop of bright clouds. We have pop with minimal self deprecating lyrics. It's hints at her new relationship with Joe (bite me, I think he's a cool guy overlooking the cheating allegations) and Taylor was really happy.
But then...
Midnights! Same pop but a bit of the indie subgenre. The backdrop is dark, starkly different to Lover's. She's looking at a lighter, hinting that she's experiencing some dark times and she's trying to keep looking at the good times (lights). She gives us a full song finishing what she hinted at in The Archer and it's self deprecating but in mock humour. We see bits and pieces of Taylor's failing relationship with Joe and that they're trying to hold it together.folklore vs evermore
Honestly, sister's fight, don't they? Folklore and evermore both have aspects of a cosy but messy situation. Folklore is more about a troublesome three way romance, evermore focuses on unrequited love (to me) and it doesn't really have a storyline.
(Not saying this as a folklore fan, saying this as a FOLKMORE fan lol)
In folklore, the album covers are cold and grey. (I kinda like it) it hints at how depressing it can be when we realise how our imagination can be once we realise that it's JUST that, an imagination
In evermore, there's a warmer feel (and more depressing songs in my opinion (exception of willow, I love that song)). It may be that Taylor came out of that imaginative bubble but it still haunts her daily life
I mean... With the James, Augustine and Betty shenanigans it can be a hassle.
Saw a theorist say that James, Augustine and Betty are real people but not in a way we think.
James is Taylor (not in any bad way tho)
Betty is Joe
And Augustine is Matty Healy (I hate that guy for some reason 🤷♀️(lie!))She said that maybe Taylor was still harbouring feelings for Matty (...?) during the relationship with Joe. So she wrote folklore and evermore to get it out and recommit herself to Joe, I presume
Of course these are all theories nothing more but... Tell me what you think.
Also trying to see if I read the first letters of all song #13s are some hint or whatever. Probably won't work but I'm bored. 🤷♀️
