"Okay, Bill, I see where your getting at.... But what I don't understand is.... How is this all happening?"
"Jack, you must understand: the squall sent millions of souls into the void. Those souls are those who could not be reached in time by the pantheons to be taken to the next world. I was rescued by the Sage of Spirits. Of someone dies today, there will be no order, no trial... Not even anywhere to go. Eventually a void-walker would snatch that soul from the spirit world and feed it to the maelstrom. That's why we have the Sage, until we can find a place to put lost souls.. He carries them all."
"I meant this conversation, friend."
"Oh haha! That's an easy one, son! The drink he gave you was my spiritual essence. Whenever you became drunk, you could commune with me."
Nothing made less sense to me in my life... But he had a point! The world is in utter crises, and if we can't find a way to restore the balance, earth will collapse into the maelstrom. But I swear I know this guy somehow. Clinton,... Clinton.... Clinton...
Nope, nothing. Oh well
"We still haven't gotten the barriers down. We still don't have leads on how to even bring them down."
The former president of some ancient civilization sure seems leisurely in the aspect of total anihalation on the universal scale.
"Well son, if Reagan were here, things might be a little smoother with that giant wall." He begins to chuckle to himself, as of the he found his own mess of rabble amusing on the least.
"Maybe that was a different time Jack, but now it's your time! You must endeavor to ensure humanity's, no, all of reality's survival.""Jack! Wake up damnit!"
Your not gonna believe this friend. The walls are down! There is conflict in the city scape! Nows our chance! Are you still going over?
No fucking use, Jack's out cold still. Luckily, I still got Vlad to back me up. His little rendezvous with Koto helped sway the shini to help us out.
Vlad, get Jack and meet me at the temple. It appears to be turning into a fight over there. I'll take down the council as fast as I can.
"Got it!" Vlad grabs Jack's body, and flashes away in a bank of fire towards the temple.
I'm not far behind. I reach for the harp from its case at my side. I pray that it does not come to me using my voice.
I can manipulate waves directly using the harp. But Asmodeus had a power greater than that. My voice could travel at any frequency, even it was impossible in the light of physics. I could formerly use my voice to control minds and destroy target objects, or people, from miles away.
After I overcame Asmodeus, I lost control of it... My voice resonated at speeds unimaginable. These days it's too the point where the vibration causes air particles to speed up to the point of diffusion. The necessity to seal my mouth was ever more present after that.
But that's how I found the harp. I had defeated my inner demon by sealing my senses of sight and sound. I internally destroyed him inside my mind. After the quarrel, he sealed my mouth shut and singed my tissue. The only sense I was left with was touch. By itself, though, I was unable to communicate with anything... Except the harp.
All my senses were closed, leaving me to my thoughts. It was soon after I lost my sense, that a mysterious tune could be heard aloof. The harp plays at a frequency inaudible to the ear, but it resonates the pitches to transfer directly to the mind. For once in my life, I could concentrate on a single entity. It was clear, and enlightening. I remember when I first touched it.
My senses came back to me immediately. I could take everything back in. I can only experience the world the way it is and not how it is perceived. Illusions cannot ail me, for I only sense the absolute.
"Hey Jazz! Get over here!" Vlad had met with a group of shini that were standing in awe and fear at the sight of the temple.
The ground trembled, the air was hot with rising waves of heat. I realized something. These shini can't fight the oni, they are all cursed if they enter the city. They will die immediately.
Vlad, how is Jack?
"He's awake now, what do you need?"
It's just going to be us this fight. The shini are marked beyond this point, if they enter the barrier, they are subject to Zitsu-kato.
"Koto informed me all about it. However, the oni are probably after us, and probably will take no heed of their assistance."
It's better safe than sorry. We need their assistance, otherwise Levy and Bell may as well be shit out of luck. Stand back, I'm going to end this now.
The sky radiates a dark purple and red. The waves are crashing into the walls, and the stone lists of the temple begin to topple.
I slide my hand toward my waist, caressing the harp before pulling it to my face. It has one string, but a pitch for every not in existence. And a tone that could match any wave length pattern.
Even the lithosphere.
The shini all stare to me in confusion and anticipation of my next action. I strike the first note of a slow melody to control the earth.
I twist the earth at the bottom of the seas, cracking it and forcing the temple to fall apart at the force of an earthquake. I create faults in the seafloor to force waves with crest of a hundred meters to pound onto stone and pull it into the water abyss. I shattered deep stone, to bring up a mound of magma through the earth.
Fire lights the sky as lava coats the ruins of a mighty temple. The water cools it trapping the oni in their death beds.
It is finished, let this be a monument to the victory of the Titans!
I recieved intended applause and praise from the relieved and the joyful. But something isn't right.
The undead shini still litter the sky. They descend to the ruins of the city in a circle.
Jack has finally come to his senses, "Jazz... The council fuels of the soul of shinigami. These omens act as second bodies. It's strange, but I learned it all from the spirit of a great man who told me about the balance of powers on the universe! Jazz we have to take balance!"
Well.... He had his senses but he still makes no sense in general. But if what he said is the truth... We are about to be in deep shit.
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
Flashes of crimson light pierce the columns of smoke and strike nine omens from the sky. Fearsome screams protected from them, as they morphed and altered into hideous shapes.
There skeleton bodies became encased in thick, revulting hide. Bristle grew in place of hair and forms widened to accompany the new figure. The end result: nine fully armed, muscular, titanic, hideous, ogre-like entities, who each carried the power of a good in their hands.
