[ENIDS POV]

It's the third night and Wednesday is doing that weird recordy thingie again.
"Wens, everyone here knows it's December 13th."

"Yes, well I might not remember in the future, so this is important."

I sigh and push her hand down gently and put my hands around her neck.
"We haven't seen each other for so long, I want to do other things with you."

"Enid, can we please spare this for later, this is important for both our sakes. Just, I fell like if we were more productive then..."

I stroke a hand along her cheek.
That one always works.

"You get so overworked about these things. Like it's the only thing in your mind. Do you even know what the fourth letter of the alphabet is anymore."

"You better not be calling me stupid Enid Sinclair."

She used my full name.

"And yes, I remember. It's D."

She stares at me for a second, then she opens and closes her mouth, 3 times.

"Enid. Enid the word Die has a D in it. It has 3 letters. Like 3 digits like what we need for the code like what we've been looking for."

"What?"

She lets go of me and starts pacing.

"D is four, I is nine, E is five. 495."

"Wednesday why would Die equal the code."

"Tyler."

"What? Wens you're making absolutely no sense what are you talking about?"

"Tyler, yesterday he punched me, but before he punched me he said "Die. Remember that." and I thought he had intended a meaning as in I should remember to kill myself but he meant the code. Tyler helped us."

"That would make no sense, we can't just go for something that someone who wanted to kill us told you."

"It's worth a try."

She gives me one of her investigation looks and I smile and give her a quick peck before we run to the door.

[TIME SKIP]

495
The door actually opens.
She was right.

The room is quite small behind the door, and in the middle is a little table, shown on by 3 lights.
In showcase of the lights is a plant.

A black flower, curving at the ends with an almost silky looking consistency.
Little gray lines mark the petals in a shimmery glow.

The stem looks strong and tough, but the small green leaves look rather loft, as they almost curl up.
On the stem there are thorns, very visible and big, almost like a warning, not to come too close to the plant, or it will hurt you.

The plant reminds me of someone.
I can't quite think of who, but apparently Wednesday is as mesmerized by it as me.
She walks close to it and the leaves basically start bending in her direction.

"What is... this plant?"

Is ask.

"I don't know. I've never seen anything like this."

She whispers, gently, like I don't get to hear it allot.

"Why would it be locked here?"

"I feel connected to it. Look what it does when I walk to the left."

She takes one step left, and the whole plant bends in her direction.

"I am this plant. Some part of me is in this plant. This is what's rooting me, what's keeping me here. It's telling me."

I stare at her like she's gone insane.
But the longer I think about it the more it makes sense to me.
The plant reminds me of Wednesday.

„Okay... well, what if we kill it?"

I ask but to my surprise Wednesday whirls around and almost screams

„NO."

„Wow, okay. What should we do then?"

„If we kill it I will die too. We have to take it."

I stare at the plant. It's bigger than me or Wednesday.

„How?"

„I know this might sound crazy but, what about Tyler? He helped us before."

„Okay. But be careful approaching him. I gotta go, it's almost 4. See you tomorrow wens."

I give her a quick kiss on the mouth and we both leave the room and lock the door. Then I leave back to nevermore.
I'm so tired.
