The lively chatter filled their ears as they entered the nightclub. Azrael walked beside Seven. He scanned the crowd searching for the target. “Should we split up?” Azrael paused as he heard the other’s suggestion. “Uh, I guess but keep your mic on.” Azrael hummed, heading upstairs. He watched Seven weave through the loud crowd.
Azrael scanned the upstairs. He wandered down the halls. Rows of private rooms slowly left him feeling anxious. He wondered if he should’ve let Sev upstairs. He slowly wandered down the hallway, his stomach flipping. Suddenly a voice distracted him. It was Seven. “Target entered the nightclub, he’s heading upstairs.”
“Copy that.” Azrael muttered, hiding in a shadow. He saw Corbin enter a private room alone. He debated following him and killing him there or wait. He reluctantly pushed the door open, hand on his dagger. The room was empty. Azrael paused. “Backup, now.” Azrael muttered into the mic earning a confirmation.
Suddenly he heard a gun click. He froze. “They sent a pretty little thing to kill me?” Azrael’s eyes drifted to a mirror. A dark silhouette stood behind him in the reflection. Moonlight shone on the pistol the man had in his hand. “How dumb of them, oh and that backup you called for? It’s not coming. I’ll make sure he’s dealt with.”
His blood ran cold. Azrael moved his hand away from the dagger. The man smiled and slowly lowered his gun. “Listen to what I tell you to do and you won’t get hurt.” Azrael turned, Corbin had pushed against his back. He leaned to Azrael’s ear whispering. “Give up, all I did was steal a couple things, no need to kill me darling.”
“I didn't choose the target.” Azrael muttered, moving away and reaching for his dagger again when he was met with the gun at his head again. “I’d put the dagger away if I were you-” Azrael felt Corbin get yanked away from him. Sev stood there choking the man.
“Thanks.” Azrael smiled relieved to see his partner. He watches Sev snap Corbin’s neck. “You’re welcome, are you okay?” Sev asked, dropping the body. Azrael nodded, getting ready to leave as he grabbed his phone to report to Zion the mission was finished. The two began leaving and a group of drunk men approached.
Seven grabbed Azrael, pulling him closer as if guarding him. The men seemed to take it as a challenge. Azrael glanced at Seven, silently pleading to leave without a fight. This plea was ignored as a man reached for him, Sev grabbed their throat, throwing them to the ground.
The others moved in. Azrael cursed, tripping some of the men and grabbing Sev by the ear. “Leave, That’s an order.” He let go as Sev gripped his wrist. He flinched, noticing the toxic green eyes held something in them. A wrath of sorts. He felt himself get thrown down. His body shuddered from the impact.
Azrael tried sitting up, his body slammed back down. “GODDAMNIT SEVAR!-” His voice was cut off as Sev wrapped his hand around his throat. “Threat….” The words were spoken venomously, leaving Azrael shaking. “No, no Sev, friend….please…” he choked out. He noticed a switch.
The grip loosened around his throat, Sev’s eyes softened. “I’m sorry…I got so caught up…I…” Azrael looked around him, the men were unconscious. He got up. “Let’s just go home…” he muttered rubbing his neck. The two left, heading to the manor. The walk home was quiet, neither one spoke. Azrael due to shock. Sevar due to guilt.
As they wandered down the cold street the lights flickered. Azrael shivered. “Where’d your hoodie go?” He heard Sev ask and he paused. He had no idea where it went. He shook slightly. The chill blew, hitting every inch of exposed skin. He cursed. Seven walked over. “There’s a store over there across the street, wanna see if they have something?” Azrael shivered, nodding, despite the earlier incident he was grateful Sev was willing to help.
