The hum of conversation filled the house as everyone made their way toward the lounge room, a warm and inviting space bathed in the soft glow of ambient light. The room was a heaven of comfort, with plush sofas arranged in a loose circle around a low coffee table cluttered with snacks and drinks.
Aakash, glanced around to make sure everyone was settled. As he saw Chandra approaching, he shifted slightly to the side, creating a welcoming gap beside him on the sofa. With a subtle gesture, he placed one hand on the empty seat, his fingers resting lightly on the armrest as if to indicate that it was reserved for him.
Chandra, noticing the silent invitation, offered Aakash a grateful smile. The corners of his eyes crinkled as he made his way over, his footsteps soft against the carpet. He settled into the seat beside him. Aakash's hand remained in place for a moment longer before he withdrew it, letting his arm fall naturally onto the back of the sofa.
The conversation around them continued to ebb and flow.
As Aakash leaned slightly toward Chandra, his voice was soft but laced with genuine concern. "How are you feeling now?"
Chandra, his eyes meeting Aakash's with a touch of vulnerability, replied almost in a whisper, "Bit better."
Aakash smiled. His smile was warm, his proximity bringing a comforting closeness. Aakash leaned closer again, his breath gently stirring the air near the chandra's ear as he murmured, "If you want to drink, just call me. Don't drink with others."
The closeness stirred a quiet tension between them, a subtle reminder of the almost-kiss from the previous night. Aakash's words were laced with a hint of that lingering moment.
Aakash chuckled when he sees Chandra looking at him cluelessly with a rabbit like big eyes. " just don't drink with others."
The subtle, intimate nature of his words made Chandra shiver slightly, not from the coolness but from the closeness and sincerity in his tone.
Akansha, lounging on the armrest of the sofa, sighed with relief. "Thank God we all have an afternoon shift today,".
Her words were met with nods and murmurs of agreement from the group.Laughter filled the room as they engaged in light-hearted banter. Stories were exchanged, and jokes flew around, creating an atmosphere of easy camaraderie. Chandra, though he enjoyed the cheerful exchange, found his attention drawn to Aakash, who sat beside him, beaming with genuine happiness.
Chandra's gaze lingered on Aakash, and he couldn't help but notice how the simple presence of Aakash made him feel at ease. There was a comforting warmth in Akash's demeanor that Chandra found both reassuring and oddly exhilarating. It was a feeling he couldn't quite place but knew he valued deeply.
Shortly, Chandra's dad joined the group. He greeted everyone with a friendly smile before settling into an armchair. Chandra's mother, who was already present, looked at her husband with a mixture of pride and relief said." I'm so happy that Chandra is finally opening up with others," her eyes twinkling with affection.
Chandra's dad was happy too to see his son laughing so bright with the group. As Chandra's dad always curious and insightful, turned his attention to the group. "So, why do you all want to be doctors?" he asked, his tone gentle but probing.
The room fell silent.
The question, though sounds simple, seemed to weigh heavily on everyone.
Chandra glanced around, noting the thoughtful expressions on his friends' faces. He felt an uncomfortable tightness in his chest, realizing he had never deeply considered this question for himself.
