Teresa Mayer, the school nurse, and Rocco Rocha were both dismissed from the school due to their affair. Everyone was shocked because Rocco Rocha didn't seem like someone Teresa Mayer would be interested in. Teresa, in her thirties and quite attractive, was wealthier than Rocco, who had five children and was known for being very loyal to his wife and family. Rocco was the type of man who wouldn't even harm a mosquito, and Teresa wasn't the kind of woman to pursue someone else's partner. She was smart and classy.
"It was truly disgusting. I caught them naked in the sick room," the principal told every teacher, sometimes raising his voice so that some students could overhear and spread the news, both within and outside the school.
"No, darling. I've never done anything like that. He's lying," Rocco said, crying to his wife. Isabelle, his wife, knew him well and sensed something fishy about the gossip. She knew Teresa was attractive and in better shape than she was, but there was no way Teresa would be interested in Rocco.
"What happened? You have to tell me the truth," Isabelle demanded. She wanted to understand the truth behind the gossip. If it was a lie, there had to be a hidden motive.
"You won't believe it. No one will," Rocco said, sobbing.
"Rocco, stop crying and tell me what's going on right now," Isabelle said firmly, as if speaking to a child.
"Well, you know the famous Merrill's—" As Rocco began to explain, they heard a noise from the kitchen.
"What's that?" Rocco asked suspiciously.
"I don't know. The kids aren't even home," Isabella replied.
At 10 a.m. the next day, Teresa received a call from Ada, a friendly teacher from the school who had not believed the gossip about Teresa and Rocco.
"What? Someone shot them? Are they okay?" Teresa asked, shocked.
"What? Both of them are dead? What about their five kids?"
"They weren't at home. Who on earth shot Rocco and his wife?"
"Robbers? That's so strange. Don't you think it's weird?" Teresa said, shocked and saddened. Rocco might not have been the strongest person, but he was not a bad guy. He never even blamed the kids, no matter how much they annoyed him.
That wasn't the only news Teresa had received recently. She tried to keep in touch with Devon, but the hospital and police refused to give her any information. However, she learned that Livia had a mental illness and was the one who abused Devon, and now she was in jail. Teresa felt something was missing because no one seemed to talk about Devon's incident anymore. The focus had shifted to the new news: Rocco and his wife's death.
