The morning sun filtered through the blinds, casting long, golden streaks across the room. Ling Ling Kwong and Orm lay in each other's arms, their bodies entwined, breaths steady in the stillness of the office. The revelations of the previous night had settled into their bones, lifting the weight that had pressed down on them for days. Yet the intensity of their bond had not waned. It felt stronger now, untainted by guilt, deeper in its purity.

Orm stirred beside Ling Ling, her mind still processing the whirlwind of events. They weren’t half-sisters. The revelation had been liberating, but now that the veil had been lifted, a new kind of uncertainty crept into her heart. What did this mean for them? What was their future now that the walls separating them had crumbled?

Ling Ling turned her head to look at Orm, her fingers gently tracing the curve of Orm's cheek. “How are you feeling?” she asked softly.

Orm sighed, her eyes still closed, savoring the warmth of Ling Ling’s touch. “Relieved, I think. But also… confused.”

Ling Ling’s brow furrowed. “Confused?”

Orm nodded slightly, opening her eyes to meet Ling Ling’s gaze. “I thought that if we found out the truth, everything would be simple. But it’s not. I don’t know how to move forward from this, Ling Ling. All this time, I felt like we were on the edge of something forbidden. Now that we’re not… what does that mean for us?”

Ling Ling shifted, pulling Orm closer, her voice steady yet tender. “It means we can finally be honest with ourselves. No more guilt, no more holding back.”

“But how can we be sure that this is real? What if we’re just reacting to the intensity of everything we’ve been through?” Orm’s voice trembled with uncertainty. “We’ve been through so much—fighting Liu Wen, thinking we were sisters, everything… What if this is just a product of that chaos?”

Ling Ling’s heart clenched as she saw the doubt in Orm’s eyes. She could feel Orm’s fear, the hesitation lingering beneath the surface. But Ling Ling knew her own heart. She had known it long before the chaos had engulfed them.

Ling Ling reached up, cupping Orm’s face with both hands, her touch firm but gentle. “Orm, I’ve been through hell and back with you. We’ve faced death, betrayal, and now we’ve uncovered the truth about who we are. But I know one thing—what I feel for you has nothing to do with the chaos. It’s real. It’s always been real.”

Orm’s eyes shimmered with emotion, but the fear was still there, lingering. “I want to believe that, Ling Ling. But I’ve spent so long pushing my feelings aside, telling myself they were wrong. It’s hard to let go of that fear.”

Ling Ling’s heart ached at Orm’s words. She understood. The emotional walls that Orm had built to protect herself were not easy to tear down, even after discovering the truth. Ling Ling leaned in, pressing her forehead against Orm’s, her voice a whisper.

“We’ll figure it out, together. I’m not asking you to have all the answers right now. But I’m not going anywhere. And neither are you. We can take it slow. We can find our way.”

Orm’s breath hitched, and for the first time in days, the tension in her chest began to ease. She closed her eyes and let herself sink into Ling Ling’s embrace, feeling the steady rhythm of her heartbeat against her own. The warmth, the comfort, the love—these were the things she had craved for so long, but had denied herself. Now, with the truth between them, it was as if a door had opened, and for the first time, she felt free to walk through it.

“I don’t know what the future holds,” Orm whispered, her voice trembling but resolute. “But I do know that I don’t want to lose you.”

Ling Ling smiled, a soft, reassuring smile that reached her eyes. “You won’t lose me. Not now, not ever.”

They stayed like that for what felt like an eternity, wrapped in each other’s arms, the silence around them filled with unspoken promises. The war with Liu Wen was over, but the battle for their hearts had only just begun. And for the first time, they were ready to face it, together.

Suddenly, the sound of a phone vibrating on the desk shattered the quiet moment. Ling Ling sighed, reluctantly pulling away from Orm and reaching for the phone. She glanced at the screen, her brow furrowing as she saw the name flashing across it.

“It’s Zhao,” she said, answering the call and putting it on speaker. “Zhao, what’s going on?”

Zhao’s voice crackled over the line, tense and urgent. “Ling Ling, I’ve got news. There’s more to this than we thought. Liu Wen wasn’t acting alone. He was part of something much bigger.”

Ling Ling’s pulse quickened, her grip tightening on the phone. “What do you mean?”

“There’s a new player in town,” Zhao continued. “Someone powerful, pulling strings behind the scenes. I don’t have all the details yet, but whoever they are, they’re dangerous. And they’ve got their sights set on you.”

Ling Ling’s jaw clenched, the weight of the words sinking in. “Who are they?”

Zhao hesitated. “I don’t know yet. But I’m working on it. Just be careful, Ling Ling. This isn’t over.”

The call ended, leaving a heavy silence in its wake. Ling Ling set the phone down, her mind racing. She had thought the battle was over, that they could finally have some peace. But it seemed that their fight was far from finished.

Orm sat up beside her, her face pale but determined. “What are we going to do?”

Ling Ling turned to Orm, her eyes fierce with resolve. “We’re going to find out who’s behind this. And we’re going to end it. Once and for all.”

Orm’s hand slipped into Ling Ling’s, her fingers squeezing tightly. “Whatever happens, we face it together.”

Ling Ling looked into Orm’s eyes, a fire igniting within her. The war might not be over, but they had each other. And no matter what came next, that was something she would fight for with everything she had.

They had survived the storm. Now, they would survive the fire.
