Yuen stumbled into the room, blood soaking through his shirt, his face twisted in agony. His breath came in short, ragged gasps, and his legs buckled beneath him as he collapsed to the floor.

“They’re coming… inside…” he rasped, his voice barely audible.

Ling Ling rushed to his side, her hands instinctively pressing against the wound in his side, trying to stem the flow of blood. Orm was already at the door, her eyes sharp, scanning the hallway for any signs of movement.

“Who’s coming, Yuen? Who did this to you?” Ling Ling demanded, her voice urgent.

Yuen’s hand weakly grasped at her arm, his eyes clouded with pain. “It was… Ko. He’s… been playing both sides. They’re coming for you… you have to run…”

Ling Ling’s heart stopped. Ko. Her most trusted lieutenant. The man who had stood by her side through every battle, every victory, every loss. The same man who had just warned her about the message… was a traitor.

The betrayal hit her like a physical blow, knocking the air from her lungs. Ko had been part of her inner circle for years, the one person she thought she could always count on. But now, the truth was laid bare in front of her, bleeding out on the floor.

Yuen’s grip on her arm loosened as his strength faded. His eyes fluttered shut, his body going still.

Ling Ling felt a wave of cold fury wash over her. Ko had betrayed her. He had used her trust, fed her lies, and now he was leading an attack on her mansion. This was no longer just a matter of power—it was personal. Ko had crossed the line, and he would pay for it with his life.

“We need to move, now,” Orm said, her voice urgent. She was already pulling a gun from her waistband, her expression cold and focused.

Ling Ling stood up, her mind racing. “What about Mei?”

Mei, who had been silently watching the scene unfold, remained seated at her desk, her calm demeanor unshaken. She was still playing her part, but there was a flicker of fear in her eyes now. She knew that her life was hanging by a thread.

Ko’s words echoed through the tunnel, his face illuminated by the dim light of the exit. Ling Ling’s anger flared, her grip tightening on her gun as she faced the man who had been both protector and betrayer.

“You’re a fool if you think you can just walk away from this,” Ling Ling said, her voice cold and controlled. “I’ll make sure you pay for what you’ve done.”

Ko’s expression remained calm, a stark contrast to the intensity of the situation. “You always did have a dramatic flair. But this isn’t about you or me. It’s about the future. You’re a relic, Ling. An obstacle to progress.”

Orm moved to stand beside Ling Ling, her own gun drawn and aimed at Ko. “The future? You think causing chaos and betrayal is progress?”

Ko’s smile widened, revealing a glint of malice. “Progress doesn’t come without sacrifices. You were always a means to an end. And now, your end is here.”

Ling Ling’s eyes narrowed. “Why did you do it, Ko? Why now?”

Ko glanced at Orm, a flicker of recognition in his eyes. “Ah, so you’ve discovered the truth about our little family secret. I should have guessed you’d find out sooner or later. But it’s too late for you. The plans are already in motion.”

Ling Ling’s heart raced. “Plans? What plans?”

Ko’s gaze was dismissive as he motioned toward his men. “You’ll find out soon enough. I have a feeling the dock will be an interesting place to be tonight.”
