The next morning, I am awakened by the blaring of my phone alarm. Feeling annoyed about starting at a new school, I get out of bed. I swiftly head to the bathroom for a shower, hoping it will help me relax. After a few minutes, I exit the bathroom wearing a perfectly fitted t-shirt and baggy jeans that reach my ankles. I quickly applied some mascara and a light foundation to cover the small pimples on my face, then hurried downstairs, my light pink backpack slung over one shoulder. I see my father downstairs, clad in a black and white suit, his hair neatly slicked back. "Make some breakfast I have to run to work." He speaks with a joyful tone. "Aright" I offer a response before making my way to the kitchen.  Gently, I take the eggs and bacon out before firing up the stove. Shortly after eating, I rush outside to walk to school. Whenever I arrive at school, I find myself captivated by the sight of people bustling about, laughing and chatting with one another. As I approach the school's entrance, I'm mesmerized by its enormity. The entryway is adorned with brick walls and large windows flanking the doors. Whenever I walk inside, I'm met with a variety of looks from people. I quickly head to the office to collect my schedule. As I enter, I am welcomed by the principal's smiling face. "Hey sweetheart did you need somebody to show you to your classes?" She speaks with an air of excitement. "Yes please." I speak calmly, almost as if in prayer, hoping to make it through the day. "Great!" her voice of excitement echos through my head. She gives me my schedule and then I head to the waiting room while she stays back to call a student who can give me a tour.  A few minutes later a skinny, tall, black-haired boy, walks in wearing a black skintight t-shirt that perfectly shows off his muscles and grey sweatpants.  As he walks in, our eyes lock for a brief moment before he diverts his gaze and proceeds to the principal's office.  A few seconds later, he emerges from the office with the principal and directs his irritated gaze at me. "Olivia, this is Noah. He will be guiding you around the school and showing you to your classes. Please feel free to talk to him if you need assistance with anything, right Noah?" She speaks, her gaze fixed on him, as though seeking his response. Noah glances at me for a brief second before shifting his attention back to the principal."mhm." He says in a raspy annoyed voice. "Great! Now go run along and show her around!" She speaks as though her words alone are pushing us out of the office. We exit the office in silence, while I sneak peeks at his broad shoulders and the perfect curls of his hair that just brush his brown eyes. After walking in silence for several minutes, I decide to break it by cheerfully asking, "So, have you lived here all your life?" Without looking at me he responds with "yup." I glance at him, slightly irritated by his brief replies. Before I can stop myself, the words flow from my mouth, "You're not much of a talker, are you?" We halt, and he turns to me, his eyes blazing, before he retorts, "With cheerful brats like you, no." After that, we resume our walk, while the phrase 'cheerful brat' echoes in my mind. "I'm not a brat... for your information. I know I'm cheerful, but you don't have to be rude about it." I say without looking at him.  He looks at me in disbelief that I commented on it. "Whatever you say newbie" After a brief silence, he escorted me to my classes, giving me a tour while remaining aloof and using as few words as possible. "Finally, your first period, understood?" he states indifferently, seemingly eager to conclude the tour. I nod my head yes and go inside leaving him alone in the hallway. As I walk in the teacher introduces me and has me sit in the back next to a girl. "Hey, I'm Ashley but u can call me ash."The girl introduces herself casually. "Nice to meet you," I reply nonchalantly. Throughout the class we talk and laugh before she invites me to meet her friends during lunch that day.

Apologies for the brief cliffhanger; the next chapter will feature Noah's perspective and, although shorter, it will contain more detail. Thank you all for the incredible support I've received through views and messages! You're all amazing! I've decided to expand this book into a three-part series, so please keep that in mind. While I initially mentioned that this chapter would include themes of abuse, self-harm, and bullying, I've opted to extend the story further by putting those in future chapters. Sending much love to you all, xoxo.
