"This isn't right, Chloe," he said, his voice strained with effort. "You know that."

She tilted her head, her lips hovering near his ear as she whispered, "Maybe it's wrong, but it doesn't feel wrong, does it?"
"You're making a mistake," Chloe murmured, her voice filled with disappointment.

"You want this. I can feel it." She leaned in and kissed him.

Against all his better judgment, Ethan found himself deepening the kiss. The taste of her, the warmth of her body so close—it clouded his mind, blurring the lines between right and wrong. His hands, which had been held rigidly at his sides, found their way to her waist, pulling her closer. For those few seconds, it was as though everything outside that moment disappeared—Isabelle, the baby, the weight of what they were building. All of it was eclipsed by the intensity of the kiss.

Chloe responded eagerly, her arms wrapping around his neck, pulling him even deeper into the kiss. Chloe guided him to her bed as their lips moved together, and for that fleeting instant, Ethan's restraint slipped entirely.
