It's finally the week of finals. I'm so nervous, I have never taken a final before. I hope Charles will do well. Hopefully the studying we did adds up, he's genuinely super smart.
We haven't talked in a few days, he always seems to be hanging out with the brown haired girl. But I never expected him to like me the way I feel. So all I can do is watch from behind. The air was brisk and slightly chilly while walking to school. I felt a bit nervous but confident. The finals are starting tomorrow. I've been studying alone because of that girl, she seems to take up all of Charles's time. Some part of me misses him.
While walking I heard a familiar voice behind me it seemed to be upset. As I turned around I noticed it was Charles. He has a frown on his face and he was talking through the phone. I didn't wanna seem snoopy so I just turned around. I wonder what's wrong?
"No. Ugh god, just stop calling me. I can't do it anymore!" He groaned as he hung up the phone.
"Eli!" Hearing his voice made me tense up.
"Charles.." I turned around while smiling softly.
"I haven't seen you in a few days, how are you?" He smiled back as he caught up to my side.
"I'm alright..how about you?" I looked forward not wanting to make eye contact.
"Well, alright I guess. Just broke up with Rei." He sighed. Slipping his hands into his pockets.
"Oh..you were dating? Well I'm sorry to hear that." I turned and looked at him. His face seemed sad.
"It's not a big deal. We didn't date for long. I missed you, why did you disappear?" He looked at me, our eyes making contact. The strange feeling inside me coming back to resurface as if it buried itself.
"Ah..I just..I don't know.." stuttering with my words I felt my face become warm.
He chuckled. "I'm sorry for seeming like I ditched you for that girl. She just kept saying weird stuff about how we hung out a lot."
"Oh? Well, it's okay. I guess." I looked at the ground our feet seeming to walk in sync. Since when did we become so a like?
"It's finals study day today. Wanna go to the library and study? It'll be quieter than the classroom." Looking up I smiled.
"Yeah, I'd like that." I'd say, feeling a familiar like to his presence I wonder if he felt this too. Was he happy.
As we walked to the library together he talked about what he was nervous for but thanked me for helping and making him do better. When we get to the library we found seats in a corner where nobody would be around or could hear us.
"So, what do you wanna study first?" He asked, taking out his stuff.
"I'm unsure what do you have to study for still?" I also took out my things, setting them neatly on the table.
"Hmm..I have a bit of work to do for the essay. I still need to figure out what I even wanna write." He sighed, his head hitting the table with a soft thud.
Laughing softly I played with his golden hair.
"Your hair is so gorgeous. It looks like a star and seems to shine like one." I smiled.
"You like stars huh?" He looked up, his soft emerald eyes meeting mine.
"I guess so!" I took my hand away, feeling somewhat embarrassed and awkward as if we just met. "Hey..Charles there's this place I really wanna bring you. I like to go a lot."
He sat up in his chair, curiosity hitting his face. "Hm, where?"
"It's a secret until we get there." I closed my eyes and leaned back in my chair. The fresh smell of books hitting my nose.
"Fine fine." He smiled. I could feel his gaze upon me as if his eyes were piercing through me not in a harmful way more of a soft gentle way like a needle piercing through a ball of yarn.
"Well, let's get working." I said, leaning over the table to help him.As we finished he yawned. "Ugh..this is so hard. I hate school" he grumbled and groaned his voice sounding tired.
"Oh you wuss. I find this fun!" I started putting my stuff in my bag, packing up.
"How in the world do you find this fun. This is like torture!" He gasped and held his hair between his fingers as if he was gonna pull his hair out of his head.
Laughing I smiled softly. "When you've envelope done it before it's thrilling."
"Well, I guess I can understand that. You'll hate it later in life trust me." He said, packing his things up. "Wanna go out for something to eat? I could totally go for a hamburger right now." He rubbed his stomach as he stood up.
"Yes I'd love too! I'm pretty hungry as well." I slid my book bag onto my back. Following him out.
"I know a really good cheap diner." He stated. His voice sounded so desirable.
"Well, let's go there. If you say it's good it must be!" I bumped into him softly. Looking up I couldn't help but notice his face was so calm and his eyes shined even from the side.
It was dark outside as we walked to the diner. We really spent the whole day studying. It didn't even feel like it either. I guess I enjoy his company. As we sat down a guy with black hair came up to us.
"Hey Charles!" He said enthusiastically. "What's up, haven't seen you in a while"
"Hey! Yeah I've been busy, finals coming up." He smiled. As I looked at his demeanor it seemed calm and gentle like how it was with me.
"Who's your friend hmm?" He smirked at Charles obviously implying something.
"Seriously, it's not like that. His name is Elias." He looked at me, his eyes softening as we made contact.
Looking up I smiled as well. "Hello!"
"Well aren't you cute." He leaned over the table seemingly to admire me.
"Ah..-" I stuttered looking at Charles who seemed unbothered.
"Dude just take our order stop flirting with my friends." He groaned and rolled his eyes. "Usual for me."
"Whatever whatever." He wrote some words in his notepad then would look at me gesturing my turn.
"I'll just take a double with only lettuce and ketchup please." I slid the menu at the end of the table. Watching him as he walked away.
"Ignore him he's just flirty." He leaned back into his chair, looking at me.
"No it's okay..just caught me off guard I guess." I chuckled and leaned my elbows against the table. "I missed you the days you were gone." I said softly.
"Oh? Well I'm sorry. I didn't realize I'd get so caught up in her like that. What a waist of time you're more worth it." He smiled at me.
More worth your time? What does he mean?
"Oh..w-well, thank you." Smiling, I tried to ignore it.
As the food was given to us I noticed he didn't eat until I had taken a bite. He never does that at home, or does he and I don't notice? He's so polite.
"This is good!" I said happily, putting a few fries in my mouth. The warm salty flavor feeling nice and memorable. Who knew a cheap diner was so good.
"I told you, I only choose the best places." He smirked as he finished his burger. I noticed some ketchup on the side of his mouth. Trying not to laugh I closed my eyes.
"Why are you looking weird?" He asked curiously.
"Your..face" I giggled looking again at the mess he made in his face.
"What- what about it!" He set down the fires he was eating and touched his face.
"You have ketchup- here" leaning over the table I used my thumb to wipe away the sauce on the corner of his mouth. Leaning back as I wiped my hands I realized his face was a soft red on the cheeks. My eyes widened I could feel the warmth in my cheeks.
"S-Sorry.." I stuttered. Looked down at my fries as I continued to eat them.
"It's fine..just unexpected." He sighed more of relief than anything.
As we finished we heated back to his house. Walking to his room we talked about all sorts of stuff we haven't been able to in the past few days. He talked about Rei, well complained really. I talked about at home and mom allowing me to adventure more. He always seemed so interested in what I had to say even if it wasn't interesting. Did he care this much?
As we walked into his room I noticed he had a new picture frame on his desk. Curious I went up to it. Picking it up I noticed it was us, the first time we ever hung out. Why does he have this! It's kind of embarrassing. I couldn't help but smile, though, he seemed to care for me this much.
"Whatcha looking at?" He peeked over my shoulder. The smell of fresh soap and his shampoo hitting my nose.
"Oh, just this picture. When did you put this here?" I laughed and turned around. A soft blush on my face.
"A while ago, actually. You just happened to never notice it." He turned around as he put on his pajama shirt. Watching him I noticed his back was very built. He was tall and muscular of course who could he not be?
"Really? Hm, cute." Smiling, I set the picture back down and went to change into my own pajamas.
"Thank you for letting me stay, again." I climbed into the bed. Turning around to face him.
"No need to thank me. I enjoy having you around." He smiled at me. A soft glow to him even in the dark.
"Really?" Asking softly, I couldn't help but blush at the words. Nobodies ever said that to me before.
"Really, now get some sleep we have finals tomorrow." He groaned and turned onto his back, looking up at the ceiling.
"You sleep too" I whispered. Watching him and looking at his features. He was so handsome.
"Jeez I would if you'd stop staring." Noticing a smirk on his face as he turned his head towards me.
"AH SHUT UP!" I yelped and turn around, huffing. My face red with embarrassment.
"Good night Eli." He said softly, his voice warm but tired.Waking up, I yawned. I noticed that Charles wasn't awake yet so I checked the time. 2:22 AM. Damn did I wake up early? I turned back around to Charles who seemed to be facing me. I then noticed his leg was wrapped around mine and one of his arms were stretched on my pillow as if I had my head laying against it. Uhm, why are we sleeping like this. I can't just push him off me. It'd awaken him. But did I really want him off me?
"Mmm..Eli?" He grumbled, opening his eyes slowly.
"Ah..Charles..sorry I didn't mean to wake you go back to sleep." I whispered, my face growing warm again.
"Shh come here..." he yawned, I then realized he was half awake. He grabbed me softly as he pulled me closer to him. Hos body was warm and strong. I couldn't help but allow myself to his embrace. I noticed a smile play upon his lips as he fell asleep. Maybe I could get used to this. My face grew warmer as I snuggled into him. My body also feeling warm and safe in his comfort. I wish I could stay like this forever. That would be nice.
Who knew liking someone could feel this..interesting. Eventually I fell asleep in his arms, our bodies radiating heat.
