I felt like if I had to put Angel into one episode, it should be this one. It's arguably the most iconic Octonauts episode.

Just a heads-up: There is some self-loathing in this fic, but more of a petty, childish nature. It's not too heavy, I don't think.

Angel and the Cone Snail

Angel's opinion on the sickbay was not a good one. She never wanted to be in there, for any reason. Yet, here she was.

She couldn't leave, though. She did not feel up to that just yet. She wondered if she ever would. The others might assure her that this feeling would pass; that they'd all felt this way, but she just felt so awful, there didn't seem to be any way through it.

None of this would have happened if it hadn't been for that cone snail! Angel thought, but she knew the truth. She was right; she wouldn't be in the sickbay, feeling terrible, if the cone snail hadn't shown up on the Octopod. However, she was the real reason for her misery...

A Few Hours Earlier...

WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP!

"Octonauts, to the launch bay!"

Reluctantly, Angel abandoned her stim toys. She was almost positive that whatever was going on was more important, but once she got going, it was kind of hard to stop.

Still, she left her room and headed for the launch bay. Her guess was that it had something to do with the rough waters she knew they would be entering.

It turned out, she was right about it being important, but wrong about it being about the Roaring Forties.

"Octonauts, there's a dangerous cone snail somewhere aboard the ship", Captain Barnacles began. "We need to find it and release it back into the water."

A dangerous snail? Angel had never heard of a dangerous snail before. However, she could see on the monitor that Peso was in the sickbay and Kwazii was also absent. What could that little snail have done?

"Cone snail, you say?" Professor Inkling repeated. "Ah, yes. Little fellows that can sting you with tiny harpoons."

"And they have up to twenty harpoons ready to fire", Shellington chimed in, "each full of poison that can make you very sick."

Well, that didn't sound good. Angel felt her heart rate rise. She let out a soft whimper. Nobody seemed to hear.

"Captain, there's no medicine for a cone snail sting", Peso reported from the sickbay. "Time and rest are the only cure."

"But why would it sting Kwazii?" Dashi wondered.

"It was probably just scared and trying to protect itself", the Captain guessed. "We'll have to be very, very careful around it. Octonauts, let's split up and find that cone snail!"

"Aye-aye, Captain!" most everyone chorused, determined to do so.

Angel, on the other hand, was thinking, Split up?! Does that mean I have to go off by myself and search for a snail that can shoot poison?!

Fortunately, it wasn't to be.

"Angel, you're with me", the Captain announced, once he was done distributing nets to catch the snail. Of course, he wasn't about to let a child search for the cone snail alone.

The eleven-year-old breathed a sigh of relief. "Aye-aye, Captain!"

So, everyone went their separate ways, with the exception of Captain Barnacles and Angel. They searched two of the pods- one of the bedroom pods and the garden pod- while Tweak stayed in the launch bay; Professor Inkling took the library; Shellington went to the lab and Dashi searched the other two pods- the games pod and the other bedroom pod.
