My eyes widened as I stared and blinked at the screen, looking like a deer caught in the red lights. Bumungad kaagad sa akin ang ayos niya. Walang pang-itaas at nasa dalampasigan kahit pa man gabi na at madilim ang paligid.

He probably went surfing the moment he arrived home.

I bit the inside of my cheek and tried to keep my eyes on his face.

“What did you just say through our chat?” he blurted out in disbelief and brushed back his wet hair.

I pursed my lips and tried so hard not to roll my eyes at his question.

“Basahin mo na lang ulit, Anghel.” I smiled cutely but my sarcasm was already seeping through the exaggerated curl of my lips.

“Ako, may girlfriend?” He shook his head before his expression softened.

Somehow, the moonlight framing his features made him look so tamed, a stark contrast of who he really is. All tempting things really are wrapped like damn treats just so they could cause distraction.

I flopped down my bed, not caring that he’s still on screen with me.

“I don’t have a girlfriend, Laurent.

I could still hear what he said over the phone, though. But he started walking away from the shore.

“Ligaw? Woah, you do that… kind of thing?” Bahagya akong natigilan at napatikhim.

Damn it, Laurent. You’re judging him way too much.

He scoffed but amusement clearly flickered across his features.

“Of course I do that.”

I chuckled at his tone.

“Oh, talaga? Paano manligaw kung ginagawa mo nga? Anong first step?” I taunted and grinned teasingly.

“Ask her out? Like, go surfing with me? Tomorrow is a perfect time for it,” he replied casually, unfazed by my teasing.

Napakurap-kurap ako at napaubo dahil sa sinabi niya. There was something about it that made me stop and ponder. Surfing? How sure is he that the girl he’s going to ask out is good at surfing anyway?

“Hindi ka nga marunong manligaw.” I nodded to myself in conviction.

My eyes stayed a bit longer on the scar near his lip before bringing it back to his eyes.

“Ganito kasi ‘yon, Anghel, magpaalam ka muna,” I added in an obvious tone.

His lips parted before slowly nodding. I laughed at his reaction while he watched me, his lips slowly forming into a small smile.

“You’re right. Come surfing with me tomorrow then.”

“At bakit?
