Like a cat

I put my hands on my face, resting for about twenty minutes before going back to work. It is just a matter of closing my eyes and waiting for the alarm. I cannot allow myself to sleep much since the last warning, even though it was a year ago, that made me stay on alert.

A call wakes me up. Of course, it is not for me, but for Macie.
I see on the screen that it is a video call from Jessica. I have been a little too busy today to monitor her conversation, so after getting some rest, I was going to spend the whole night reading them. I am sure if Macie knew, she would be giving me a lecture about how important it is to rest.

<<Although I would only rest if she forced me to.>>

I shake my head at these thoughts and pay attention to both screens. If Jessica is calling this late, it must be important for Hannah's case.
I clasp my hands together and rest my elbows on the table, paying attention.

"Hello Jessy," Macie greets with a smile, although it fades when she sees Jessica's expression, which seems more worried. "What happened?"

I see what appears to be a room? At least, what I see behind her is a bed.

"I thought I heard a noise and I got scared," Jessica walks towards the window, opening the curtain.

I pay attention to any sounds I hear from the call, if the kidnapper is there, I will have to rule Jessica out as a suspect.

"Do you see something?" Macie's scared expression is what worries me, for some reason, it makes me feel uncomfortable. Is that the word I am looking for?

I clench my hands, as if I wanted to grab something.

<<Her hand...>>

"No, everything's fine," Hannah's friend sighs, moving away from the window, "I'm sorry if you were sleeping Macie."

"No, don't worry, I wasn't sleeping," shee leans a little to her right, murmuring words. Shee picks up her pet, caressing it. "Do you want to talk until you're better?"

"I could use any chat right now."

    Macie nods.
Well, I guess if it is not going to be important, I would better turn off the audio.

"What did you do with what you bought?" I am about to hit the mute button, but Macie answers Jessica.

"Nothing, it was too big, it didn't fit properly."

I pause for a moment, my brain is creating images it should not.

"Oh really? Have you even tried spinning around?"

"Spinning around, pressure, even with a little help to separate it," my face begins to burn. What did she buy? "If I continued insisting, it would surely destroy it."

I cough in surprise. What is she going to destroy and with what?

<<Calm down Jake... I am sure it is not... Well, she can do whatever she wants with her private life, it is... Why does it bother me?>>

"You should have seen the scene I put on, with my legs spread so wide from the effort," she laughs and I shake my sweatshirt, trying to get some fresh air, "the neighbors have even heard me complain and I live in a house, not an apartment."

I open my eyes wide enough to imagine sounds in my head that I should not.
Okay, time to close the conversation between women, I should not have heard it.
