Albany hasn't seen her family since she found out the truth of their career, that was two weeks ago.

Not her doing; Richard and Mary have been out of town on a mission, Teresa has been swamped, and the twins have been avoiding her. Peter swears he hadn't been avoiding her, that he's busy, but she knows when he's lying. Eris hasn't said a word to her.

Albany has been busy too, of course, when was she not. It's kept her mind off of everything, though, and that's what she needed most. A distraction. So she didn't lose her mind thinking about her family being in danger.

"Albs! Peter is here!" May called from the living room.

Albany stood from her bed, she was finally taking a break for the first time in days. She rushed out to the living room, being met with Peter and May standing by the front door.

"I'm heading out." May said to the kids. "I'll be back in a couple hours, if you go anywhere, Albs, just text me."

Albany nodded, Peter and May saying goodbye to each other and once the door was shut behind May, the apartment filled with tension. Albany hated this. Her and Peter never had tension, never, why did they now?

"Are you mad at me?" Albany asked, and Peter blinked. "I mean - did I mess things up for any of you? Finding out, especially how I did?"

"No." Peter shook his head. "We didn't tell you, or anyone, because if it got out it puts you in danger. It's a dangerous career. There are a lot of people who want to hurt the Avengers."

Yes. Albany thought. That was the issue.

"If something happens, to one of you, what do you tell us? What's the protocol for that? Your - your family doesn't know that you are constantly risking your life for the sake of the world."

Albany was speaking quicker than Peter could keep up. Standing in the apartments living room, he looked around awkwardly, trying to figure out how to have this conversation. Why was he the one trying to have it with her? Albany isn't easy, not in these situations.

"We come up with some lie." Peter said quietly, and at the very least it got Albany to stop talking. "If something happens to one of us-"

"If you die. They tell your family a lie?" She asked, her voice shaking at the realisation. "What the fuck?"

"I'm sorry." Peter said, and Albany shook her head, looking to the floor. "Really, if we could have told you, we would have. We just thought it's easier if we didn't, and it keeps you safe."

Peter hated this. Being able to sense Albany's heartbeat rising, it was deafening.

"There are really people out there who will go after your family if they know who to go after?" Peter nodded, and Albany led them to take a seat on the couch. "Okay. Who are you? You and Eris are Avengers, who are you?"

"Spiderman." Peter replied, taking a deep breath. "Eris is Spirit."

"How long have you been doing this?"

Get all the questions out of the way at once. Just get it over with.

"Since we were fifteen." Peter said, and Albany's head shot up to him and he immediately turned his to avoid eye contact. "We just - we just wanted to help people. We could help people, in ways others couldn't."
