There was a balcony at the Compound.
Okay, there were multiple, obviously, but there was one in particular that Albany had grown quite fond of over the past week. No matter the weather, it always felt perfect, and it seemed to be the less used out of all of them. It was a good place to go when she couldn't sleep, which was often.
Sitting there now, staring at her old guitar in front of her, she was trying to wrap her head around how she got here. Several months ago, she was just getting back from months of work, she was telling her friends about filming and her upcoming projects. She was getting back into working at the homeless shelter, and volunteering, and helping at the community theatre. She was her.
Now, she was sitting in the corner of a balcony at the Avengers Compound, Finch crawling around in a carrier beside her. She hasn't spoke to her friends, or anyone outside of this building for that matter, in a week. Her family was being threatened by some evil society, and Eris seemed more annoyed with her than normal. Albany just didn't know why.
She wanted to go home. As much as she has enjoyed her time there, she really has, and she enjoys all the people there, she just wanted to go home. There was nothing for her at The Compound. She's become good friends with Pietro, yes, and she works a lot with Bruce but once this threat is taken care of, that's all over. She's not an Avenger, or a S.H.E.I.L.D. Agent, or anything relevant here, and she knows she is welcomed anytime but if she can't contribute, isn't she just taking up space?
"Are you actually going to play or are you just going to keep staring at it?" The voice startled her, dragging her out of her thoughts, Albany looked up at who the voice was coming from. Pietro.
"Hey, you're back." Albany said, glancing up and smiling at him. Pietro returned the smile, it was hard not to with her.
"Got back in about an hour ago." He explained, taking a seat beside her. "So? The guitar?"
Albany shrugged at first, sighing as she glanced back to the guitar.
"I was going to play some." She explained, avoiding his eyes. In a week, part of which he wasn't even there for, she's learned that he's pressing, and it's always his eyes. "I don't know, I haven't played in years." She sounded exhausted.
"Are you okay, Princess?" Pietro questioned.
"Im fine." She said, looking to him. She was always fine. "How'd you find me?" And she was always changing the subject.
"I wasn't looking for you." He admitted, gesturing to the balcony. "I come out here sometimes, it's not used often."
"So i've found out." She replied. "Shouldn't Superhero's sleep?"
"Shouldn't actresses?"
Albany hummed in response to that. She didn't have a job, it wasn't a valid question if she didn't have a job.
"How was the mission?"
"Boring." He told her, nudging her leg with his. "How was it here? Awful without me, i'm sure."
"Oh yeah." She dragged out. "Absolutely." They shared a laugh before Albany continued. "I spent a lot of it with Bruce in the lab."
"Oh yeah?"
