Sebastion looked at Amari and said, "Good luck." He pushed his glasses up and stepped to the side. Amari looked at him. "That's not very encouraging." Sebastion adjusted his glasses again. "Sorry?" Amari sighed and clutched her training spear to get into a fighting stance. Across from her was Aaron with a training spear of his own. Amari could feel herself sweating, and the fight hasn't even started yet. "The fact that Aaron is using a training spear instead of his real spear just shows the power difference between me and Sebastion."

"I hope you're ready!" Aaron said with a smile on his face. "I was born ready," Amari said, but, in her mind, "I'm not ready." Aaron laughed. "I like your confidence!" "I'm not confident, but thanks, I guess," Amari muttered, and Sebastian, who heard it, laughed. Aaron jumped up and down, warming himself up. Amari raised an eyebrow but did the same. They then circled each other before Sebastion yelled, "Start!" "Grit your teeth!" "Uh?" Just then it seemed like Aaron teleported under Amari and uppercutted her. Amari went flying as Sebastion shouted "Holy Fu-!".

                                                    **************************************

Aaron stood above Amari, trying to wake her up, lightly smacking her face. "Hey, we aren't done yet. Wake up!" "Dang, you punched her hard boss," a gang member said, passing him some water. Aaron took it and nodded at the gang member before he poured it on Amari's head. "Ah!" She woke up quickly, shaking the water off. "Great, now my bandages are wet." "Eh, the doc will wrap them again later. Now get up."

                                               ******************************************

"Can you get a handicap or something?" Amari asked, rubbing her chin, "Uh?" Aaron said, "I am handicapped. I'm using a training spear." "You should be glad he's not using his pure iron spear." Sebastion said from beside her, "I'm just saying. Your only two levels from being star five." Sebastion looked at her like she was crazy. "Only 2 levels?" He chuckled, "Ha ok. The difference between a three-star and a five-star is like comparing a toddler to a grown ass man." Amari blinked, "If he's a toddler, then what am I?" Aaron got into a fighting stance. "You're a baby," Sebastion whispered before running to the side. Amari sighed, exasperated, "Fuc-" "Get ready!"

                                                    **************************************

"I have to attack first. He's too fast for me to wait." Amari thought, staring down at Aaron. "Start!" Sebastion shouted "Haste" Amari said, charging at Aaron. Moving two times faster, she swung her spear at him. He blocked with shocked eyes before a grin split across his face. Amari spun around and tried to attack his legs, but Aaron jumped over it and grabbed her face and slammed her to the ground. Aaron and Sebastion shared a glance that Amari didn't see.

                                                       ***********************************

Amari rubbed her head, groaning, "Ok, so even using Haste, I'm still not fast enough, maybe I need to slow him down?" "I hope you're ready!" Aaron shouted with a mischievous grin on his face. She groaned again, but this time out of annoyance. She got into a fighting stance, and just as Sebastion shouted, "Start!" Amari said "Authority" Aaron's eyes widened, feeling himself slightly heavier than normal. Using his shock to her advantage, Amari quickly said "Haste" and charged at him. She jumped up, aiming for him, but he swung at her side, causing her to go skirting to the side and on the ground. She held her ribs, wincing and gasping a bit. "He's still fast!" Amari gritted her teeth, got up, and ran toward him. She swung at him, and he ducked to avoid it, he then took her leg and flung her to the side. He put his leg on her back, pushing her to the ground. "Alright, maybe we should take a break. Sebastion suggested, rubbing the back of his head.

                                                     ****************************************

Amari was drinking some water when she saw Sebastion and Aaron looking at each other. "What's with the looks?" They turned toward her before Aaron said, "You know magic." Amari blinked, "I do?" "Yeah-, wait, what do you mean "I do?"" Sebastion asked flabbergasted. Amari tilted her head. "Yeah, what are you talking about?" "Wha—the spells you were using. Haste and Authority?" "Oh, yeah, I learned Haste at some village," she said casually. "How did you learn a spell without—wait if you didn't know about magic... Do you know what mana is?" Sebastion asked with wide eyes. " Mana?" Amari asked, tilting her head again. "What the heck is Mana?"

Sebastion had a raised eyebrow, and Aaron had his jaw to the floor. "YOU DONT KNOW WHAT MANA IS!?" They both shout "No...?" "How don't you know!?" Sebastian shouted, "Even civilians know what mana is! Hell, the dumbest person in the kingdom knows what mana is!" "Have you been living under a rock?!" Aaron shouted, "Wait—even rocks have mana!" "They do?" "Oh my god... you're an idiot." "Hey!"

Sebastion took a deep breath and looked at Aaron, who turned his head. "Yeah, your explaining." He said, "Wow, ok, fine." Sebastion said, adjusting his glasses while elbowing Aaron in the side. Clearing his throat, he sat down beside Amari and began to explain. "Mana is in everything, even humans. People who use their bodies mana, that's aura, most can do that if their a Star 3." Amari looked at Aaron. "Does that mean you can use Aura?" Aaron nodded. Amari hummed before turning back to Sebastion as he continued, "Then there are people who use the environment's mana that's magic, and those people are called mages." Sebastion turns to face her. "When you were using the Haste spell, you were using the wind to make you faster, and with Authority, you were using gravity to weigh down Aaron." "Yeah, I was trying to slow him down. It's clear that didn't work..." Amari said, side-eyeing Aaron with a yawn. Aaron laughed a bit before asking, "Wait, you said that you learned Haste at a village? Where did you learn Authority then?". There was silence. Aaron looked down and saw Amari sleeping and Sebastion looking sheepish. "What? Hey! If you're going to sleep, do that in your room!" He said kicking her awake. "Don't forget we have to hunt later!"

                                        ***************************************************

Amari opened the door to her room only to come face to face with Milo. "Oh, hey, I was just checking on the satchel," he said, backing up a bit with a sheepish smile. "Oh, thanks," she mumbled before stumbling past him and dropping on her bed. "Oh, uh, are you ok?" He asked awkwardly, "Tired..." she mumbled, turning on her back. She was sure she had bruises on her ribs and that she was soaked in water. "Yeah, you look...rough. Do you want me to change those bandages? Wet bandages can't be good for your wound." Amari grunted sitting up, "Sure..." Milo walked up to and touched the bandages, finding them soaked. "Jezz, how did they even get like this?" he asked, sitting behind her. "Aaron thought it was a good idea to poor water on my head." "Why—you know what, nevermind." There was silence for a moment as Milo changed the bandages. "Oh, I came across Otto today." "Really?" Amari perked up a bit. "Yeah. He asked how you were and that he would visit, but being the only actual merchant in the kingdom is keeping him busy. Also, he doesn't know where you live." Amari chuckled, "Understandable.". She winced, feeling the bandages come off and Milo quickly putting on a new set that Amari passed him. "You know I never asked, but how come you're the only city guard with a bow? I thought that most only use normal spears." Milo grinned, "Because I'm the only one that knows how to use it." Amari raised an eyebrow under her new bandages, amused. "Really, uh?" Milo's grin widened as he pointed at himself. "Yep! Give anyone else one, and they wouldn't even know how to pick it up," he said a bit cockily. Amari chuckled, "I'm serious! Give anyone else one, and they will end up shooting backwards," he said, laughing and Amari joining.
