One cannot help but be impressed by how far humanity has come. From beings who used only fire and tools made of wood and stone, we are now surrounded by gigantic infrastructures and advanced technologies.
Still, the word satisfaction does not seem to apply to humans. Sometimes, I wonder if it is pure curiosity or just plain greed.
In terms of cosmology, I think of it positively, though. There have been discoveries about space since earlier centuries, but they are not enough to uncover the truth about the entire universe.
Even with what we now call advanced technologies, traveling between planets is still not feasible.
That's why whenever I tell my fellow teachers that I've experienced it, they simply dismiss it as one of my signature jokes.
...
I wonder how long has it been since then. I'm starting to become forgetful. I must be getting old, my brain is starting to deteriorate.
"Sasaki-sensei, you're here again?"
A fellow teacher approached me while I was on the school rooftop, deep in thought as I looked at the beautiful blue sky.
"Yeah, just wasting time as usual," I replied jokingly.
She then chuckles for a bit.
"You should really get a boyfriend soon, you're getting older as we speak, you know?""I know, you don't have to rub it on my face."
Getting a boyfriend, huh? I would've done it a long time ago if it wasn't for— whatever, I might cry out of nowhere again.
"How about you, Kobayashi-sensei? How have things been with your boyfriend lately?" I asked.
"The same as usual, we're doing pretty well~"
"Why do I feel like you're just bragging?"
"Ehehe~ Sorry."
"Geez."
Ahh... what have you done, Kobayashi-sensei? I'm starting to remember it again—the greatest turning point of my life.
(To be continued.)
