Chapter Four: Planet Aridia Disaster

Ratchet and Clank land on Planet Aridia to find Skid McMarx, on their way there, Ratchet starts to smell stuff coming from the sand, "I'm able to smell even more than I did on Planet Kerwan now my ears are starting to hurt. I can't back down now." he stops paying attention to it. The two of them approach Skid McMarx, "It's him. Skid Mcmarx!" Clank says surprisingly, "That man from the Infobot." Skid McMarx tells them, "In the flesh, little dude. You guys get a load of that epic space battle I was in?" Ratchet remarks, "We saw you screaming for help." Skid starts to feel embarrassed, "Uhhh...That was like, a war cry. My agent and I got ambushed on the way to hoverboard practice." Clank asks, "Did he survive the crash sir?" Skid tells Clank, "Aaah, he's okay. But, I've had a little trouble getting back to my ship...due to my sprained ankle." Ratchet gets irritated, "Oh come on!" Skid instructs him, "If you can get rid of the Sandsharks, I just might have a spare hoverboard for you." Clank tells him, "We'd love to help you , Mr. Mcmarx, but Ratchet and I need to help find Captain..." Ratchet interrupts, "Shhh! One of your boards...? Hmmm...I've always wanted a decent hoverboard...Well, all right...you just keep that foot elevated." Skid McMarx tells the friendly Lombax, " Thanks man! Hey yellow guy what's up with your teeth?" Ratchet is confused by his response, "What about them are they not straight? I doubt I need braces." Clank tells him, "No Ratchet they look pointier than before! Oh dear." Ratchet stands there looking at the two, "I don't suppose you have a mirror do you?" Skid looks through the part of his ship and finds a mirror giving it to Ratchet as he looks at his reflection, "Whoa!!!" he yells out, "How did that happen? Oh god is that why my parents told me to take that medicine everyday? Hmm that's odd listen Clank stay here with Skid I'll handle the Sandsharks." Ratchet goes out to handle the Sandshark situation but can't seem to find them, "You can run but you can't hide." smelling their scent from the sand. The Sandsharks come out from the sand attacking Ratchet as he uses his Pyrocitor gun to fend them off. While using his fire gun, he notices his vision looking off, "What the..." one of the Sandsharks jumps on him trying to bite him as Ratchet blocks it's mouth with all of his strength, "Oh god you smell...." he sniffs the Sandshark, "Surprisingly good." the creature looks at him confused as he eventually starts drooling, "Why am I salivating?" Ratchet gets up on a rocky step taking out a granola bar from out of his pocket, "I just need some protein." takes a bite from his bar as the Sandsharks attack from the ground jumping and trying to bite him spitting his bar out, "Oh god I can't eat it! I was able to hours ago why not now? This is irritating!" he starts growling, "Why am I growling like that?" He takes the mirror from Skid McMarx and looks at himself in the mirror noticing his slit eyes, "What the heck those weren't there before." His bones start crackling, "Ahhhh!" screaming in pain, "Oh stop please! Ahhh!!" Clank and Skid hear Ratchet screaming, "Oh no Ratchet!" Clank says scared for his friend, "I'm coming with you I got your back." Skid tells Clank with confidence. The two of them start walking in search of Ratchet, "Ratchet! It's Clank we heard your screaming are you okay?" As they are walking, Skid notices dead Sandshark skeletons on the ground, "Dude that's just nasty!" Clank sees it as well, "Whatever thing got Ratchet it's giving us a trail we are close. It's sad these Sandsharks are now gone and it looks like they've been eaten alive." Skid starts to get scared, "Wait what?! How can you tell?!?!" Clank examines, "There is no skin on its bones meaning it was eaten." A growl can be heard nearby, "We should get out of here." Skid says scared for his life, "We have come this far and we aren't leaving without Ratchet." Both of them keep walking until the trail all of a sudden ends, "Wait a second why did the trail all of a sudden stop?" Skid says until a growl can be heard again as the two slowly turn back and see a big dog like creature jump on the both of them, "So this is the thing that ate the Sandsharks? It doesn't explain where the yellow guy went." Clank starts noticing the little details with the dog like creature, "Wait brown stripes? Green eyes and a long tail?" Clank gasps, "Ratchet?" The beast looks at Clank, "Wait that thing is your friend Ratchet? It would make sense for him to be the beast considering he got rid of the Sandsharks by eating them." Ratchet in his form recognizes Clank and gets off the both of them, "Ratchet can you tell us what happened?" The both of them look at Ratchet realizing he can't speak, "Oh you can't speak in this form it's okay. I suppose this is the reason why you take your medication daily." Ratchet in his werewolf form looks at Clank with tears forming in his eyes, "It's okay you can explain everything to me in the morning for now just sleep." Skid tells Clank, "I'll be right back I have something to give to your friend." Skid leaves for a moment as Clank looks at Ratchet asleep snoring kind of loudly. As he makes his way back to his ship, Skid McMarx finds a hoverboard he's going to give to Ratchet. He leaves his ship to make it back to Ratchet and Clank, he makes it back, "Here, Robot. Give this to your friend when he wakes up. Also here's a change of clothes for him." Clank says, "A brand new Z-3000?! Ratchet would love it!" Skid tells him, "Well I gotta bail. Catch you dudes at the hoverboard races when he turns back to normal." Skid leaves to return to his ship, "Ratchet." Clank whispers as Ratchet slowly opens his eyes, "This is given to you by Skid McMarx. He wants you to have it." giving him the hoverboard Ratchet's tail starts wagging, "Okay how about we go and explore the rest of the planet. We still have to stop Chairmen Drek." The two explore the rest of Aridia and find the Trespasser that is used to unlock door, on the way they bump into a green alien man, "Aaargh...No signal whatsoever! This down time is killing me!!!" Clank stands there and asks, "Do you need medical attention sir?" The man looks back, "Whoa what is that?" he asks freaking out, "This is my friend Ratchet he is a werewolf I'm sorry if he scared you it's not his intention. Now that your okay what seems to be the problem?" The agent says, "Don't be so literal son. The problem is I'm stranded on this backwater planet and my star is nowhere to be found." Clank tells him, Well..." Ratchet makes dog noises, "What is it Ratchet? Do you know him from somewhere?" Skid's agent adds, "I am Skid McMarx's agent for crying out loud!" Clank eyes widen, "Oh that's why you were making those noises Ratchet!" The agent responds, "Was Skid's agent. Haven't seen him since our ship crashed and an agent without a client is like a flea without a dog." he continues, "Say your friend here looks like an athletic kid that turned into a big thing." Clank tells him, "He can understand you no matter what you say he will listen." The agent instructs Ratchet, "If you can bring back the Championship prize from the hoverboard races in Blackwater City I'll make you my next star." Clank tells him, "We have no time for trivial matters sir." Ratchet happily jumps and licks Skid's agent, "Okay kid I get your happy just don't lick me. I have something for you here." Skid's Agent gives Clank a Nanotech drink, "In case for emergencies." Clank accepts the offer. Ratchet and Clank make it to their ship as Clank takes the drivers seat to transport themselves to the Logging Site Eudora.
