I let out a deep sigh as I put my last piece of clothing into my duffel bag. It's now been a few days after the whole 'incident' and I've been receiving some help from Faith's brother, Noah, who's an FBI agent, on finding who were the people that took me.
At first, both of them told me to let it go and just stay safe and whatnot but something in me just couldn't, and after pretty much begging the two to death, they finally decided to help me find some info.
And after that much-detailed info was found, we then understood that the people who took me were to be in a mob.
Yes, a fricken mob!
After all the people who could've taken me, it just had to have been them and I didn't even know the mob was still a thing these days but surprise, surprise.
And so that brings me here, to the present where I've just finished packing to stay over at Faiths for a while because I can't quite shake the feeling of being watched and the fact I gave them my address to get me here in the first place was an even worse problem.
Most of my questions have now been answered, but there's still however one that remains.
Why didn't they kill me?
I mean, I'm happy to be alive right now, ecstatic even but if they killed that Squirrelly guy, why not kill me too?
Did they take pity on me after finding out about my disability? Or did they just not want to kill an innocent girl?
"Elle?" I hear my best friend's voice call, interrupting my thoughts.
"Hm?" I hum in question as I turn my head in the direction I had heard her voice.
"Are you ready to go?"
I nod at the question, my energy wavering, making it hard to form a response. I then hear her footsteps start softly treading on the carpet, the sound drawing closer.
A moment later, I feel her warmth as she steps up behind me, resting a gentle hand on my shoulder. It's a simple gesture, but it grounds me in that moment, a subtle reminder that I'm not alone.
"I'm sorry, Elle"
I shake my head. "For what? You didn't do anything wrong" I say.
"I know, but neither did you"
I slowly nod before letting out another deep sigh. "Shouldn't I stay? Why run from them when they'll probably find me anyway"
"Maybe, maybe not but at least you may feel a lot safer" I hear her say.
I nod, showing my agreement to her statement.
"Come on, we're going to have so much fun!" I hear her say with confidence as she takes the duffel out of my hands.
"Yeah," I say with a small smile as I try to show what gratitude I have left in me for my best friend's attempt to cheer me up.

It's now been at least twenty or thirty minutes since we left my apartment and at least twenty or thirty minutes since Faith and I have been blasting and singing along to Lana Del Rey. I smile as I, along with Faith, croak out the lyrics of Diet Mountain Dew, my throat now a bit hoarse and slightly in pain from all the loud singing.
Do I regret this right now? Nope. Will I later on? Oh Absolutely.
"Gimmie them, gimmie them dope and diamonds!" we yell in an almost perfect harmony before bursting into laughter.
