The Last Bargain

Maeve's POV

After an eight-hour journey, we finally stood up, stretched our backs, and let out a sigh of relief, no longer needing to wait. Everyone was in a hurry to leave the bus so they could finally spot the surprise they had been told.

When I was off the bus, I couldn't control but be in awe, my mouth opened in utter shock, we were currently on an island full of greenery, it's almost so unreal that I couldn't believe my eyes, it was just so beautiful when I look towards Adeline and my other companions, I notice they are no different than me, we are smiling the brightest we ever had, it was indeed a flabbergast.

"Isn't that divine nature?" Anya said with her eyes shining and reflecting the soft rays of the sun.

"I can't agree more! It's so beautiful. I have never seen a location like this in my life," Urmilla replied in equal shock.

There were so many faces there to welcome us, their face brightening with our arrival, Specially a man with broad shoulders and a bulky body roaming around helping the one in need stood out, Sir called him Kai, they helped with our luggage and, and greeted us with exultation,
They chitchat with most of the students to make them comfortable and at home, while taking us to the residence for us to take some rest and get all fresh up,

The Sir is conversing warmly with Kai; Sir's arm is on the shoulder of that man. It seems like they are pretty close and comfortable with one another.

"Heyy, look, the professor is so close with Kai! I mean, they just met now," Zee said while pointing at Kai.

"Silly, who knows? Maybe they are already friends and don't point out it's rude. By the way, what's the professor's name?" I replied

"Tsk Tsk. " Zee hissed.

"Ohh! His name is Ethan. Girl, you didn't know his name all long?" Fiona said in disbelief but not shocked while laughing.

"Hehe, don't blame me. I was so excited, I didn't pay any attention to those silly details," I replied in defense.

When I just ended my sentence Sir Ethan yelled from a distance to hurry up so we did the same, also I couldn't wait to rest anymore, after a short walk and distance, the residence was finally in view, it was HUGE, that was the second shock in this short span,
It was 15 stories huge. Who called it a residence? It should be called a mansion. The exterior and the architecture are mostly black and Grey, opposite to its green and color-full environment.

"HOW in heaven can our college afford this?" Riley said in suspicion with her mouth hanging open.

"how the hell can I know,? But I know that I'm not paying them extra even if they command or urge. Zee replied to Riley

" I'm with you in this one. " both Urmilla and I said at the same instant, and then we laughed at our sync.

it took 5 min to reach the gates of the residence, they were too heavy to open with all those expensive metals.
The interior was as astonishing as the exterior; the style was a mixture of the classic, modern, minimalist, and a good touch of coastal. All the students in groups went into two different elevators that were huge enough to accommodate 20 persons in a single trip; the elevator opened in front of a prolonged corridor with different doors to the room.

"Students I'm so happy with all your response to this surprise and for now please take some rest and we will meet on the 2nd floor for dinner at 7 pm,"
Sir Ethan said addressing all students while standing in the corridor.

All students agreed, including us. Kai then proceeded to distribute keys to the students whose numbers matched those on the doors. Each room was assigned to two students. Me and Freesia, Zee and Riley, Adeline and Fiona, and Urmilla and Anya shared a room.

There were two single beds in the corners of the room with side tables, and in the middle, there was a dressing table with an enormous mirror; the lighting was perfect for taking pictures and makeup.

"Urmilla would have loved this room," I said while giggling and appreciating her existence.

"Heheh, you are right" Freesia replied while examining the room.

"It's already 4 pm, and we only have 3 hours left for dinners, so let's unpack and take a quick nap," I was addressing Freesia.

"but I have another plan; I would like to take a nap first and unpack after dinner, YAYYYYYY," Freesia jumped into her bed mid-sentence.

I chuckled hard and jumped onto Freesia's bed too, I landed on Freesia, pressing her with my weight, and we both laughed hysterically

I didn't know when we both knocked off into deep slumber; the sheets were so cozy, and the air-conditioned kept the room the perfect temperature when suddenly the door knocked lightly but loud enough to drift me off my sleep.
I rubbed my eyes and unlocked the door, the light suddenly hit me. Zee was in front of my eyes.

"Babe. It's going to be 7 pm in 30 minutes; wake up Freesia too, and you both get ready to get dinner downstairs," Zee said in a husky voice; it was clear she just woke up too.

We all refer to each other by cute pet names as babe, baby, and honey, with no romantic feelings involved.

" yeah! We will get ready, so let's meet downstairs in a bit," my voice was heavy with sleep.

I woke Freesia up, and we both got ready and went downstairs; other students were already there, and we were the last ones to get there, but it was not too late because no teacher was in sight. When suddenly, an exquisite-looking woman, I guess her age in the twenties to early thirties, appeared.

"HELLO, Lovely students! I'm assistant of the Professor Ethan You can call me Luna, he won't be here with you but I'm here if you need anything, the dinner is already served so please enjoy"
Luna introduced herself.

We all started the feast and munched the food till there was so much space left in our stomachs.

"I'm so stuffed I can live on this food for a decade; I look 3 months pregnant," Fiaona said while stroking her stomach and laughing. We all laugh with her, I love our silly little harmless jokes.

After we had dinner, all the students were gathered in the lounge. When Luna came with her bright smile and said: "Sir Ethan won't be with you till, tomorrow, so enjoy this night, and we will join you tomorrow to explain the plans."

After that announcement, all the students went to their respective rooms, our group was cramped into Anya and Urmilla's room, and we all sat on the rug in a circle, Riley having her head on Zee's lap, Adeline putting her head onto Fiona's head, Anya and I was holding hands, we all were cuddling in our ways, the atmosphere was so peaceful that it felt therapeutic.

"I don't know, but the fact that Sir Ethan isn't here when it's a rule that during any trip, teacher's presence is compulsory doesn't seem right," Adeline spoke, her concern while her head was still on Fiona's shoulder.

"I know, right? And I just don't know, but he gives me creepy vibes," I spoke my mind.

"OHHH! I just remember now but have anyone checked their emails yet!" Riley yelled with realization.

"DAYUM shit, honestly, it slipped my mind," Zee said while everyone also agreed.

We all lunged for our phones, switched on our phones, and connected to the internet, the code was given to us after dinner. The network was successfully connected, and we all refreshed our emails multiple times, but still no email from the college regarding the changes in the plans!

"What the fu*k is happening? Is this a freaking joke? Riley snapped.

" Guys! Hear me out but I think something is not right?!, Freesia's sixth sense was acting up, she said while being alarmed

No one was confirming if the plans were valid, and Sir Ethan was nowhere in sight; we got no emails and the fact we don't know what we are even doing here and all the people here are so new to us that I can't help but be alarmed too. My sixty senses were screaming something was just not right.

The environment suddenly turned sour with aghast. We all were frightened and we all sensed it too.
When suddenly, a sickening foul smell like metal and blood fired our nose. Something is totally wrong
