Next morning, the four heavily pregnant women made their way to Dr. Thompson's lab, each one wincing in pain as they walked.
Maria was the first to be examined. As Dr. Thompson pressed on her belly, she gasped in pain.
"Ahh... Doctor, it hurts!"
Dr. Thompson's expression remained neutral. "Yes, yes... just a bit more... Ah, good."
Maria's eyes locked on his, her voice barely above a whisper. "Doctor... I love you... please... be with me..."
Dr. Thompson's face remained impassive as he made notes on her chart. "Next!"
Sophia was next, her belly tender to the touch. As Dr. Thompson examined her, she winced in pain.
"Ow... Doctor, please... be gentle..."
Dr. Thompson's voice was firm. "I am being gentle, Sophia. Now, let's focus on the baby..."
Sophia's eyes filled with tears. "But Doctor... I need you... I love you..."
Dr. Thompson's expression remained practical. "I'm your doctor, Sophia. Not your lover."
Emma's examination was next, her belly aching with each touch.
"Ugggh... Doctor, it hurts so much..."
Dr. Thompson's voice was detached. "Yes, yes... just a bit more... Ah, good."
Emma's voice was laced with desperation. "Doctor... please... love me... I need you..."
Dr. Thompson's face remained neutral. "I'm just doing my job, Emma. Don't get attached."
Rachel was the last to be examined, her belly heavy with pain.
"Ahh... Doctor, it's so sore..."
Dr. Thompson's expression remained practical. "Yes, yes... just a bit more... Ah, good."
Rachel's eyes locked on his, her voice barely above a whisper. "Doctor... I love you... please... be with me..."
Dr. Thompson's face remained impassive as he made notes on her chart. "You're all doing well. That's all that matters."
As each woman left the lab, they couldn't help but feel rejected and heartbroken.
