They say all's fair in love and music.
I say love is unpredictable and sometimes unfair.
In the name o...
"You think she's pretending? And why is that?" Xavion's brow wrinkled. He tasted the coffee I made. He stood up and opened the sugar container.
I smirked a tiny bit as I forgot to put sugar in his coffee. I've been thinking about Rosy, as she was doing my head in.
Last night, I was about to call my mother to ask about Rosy, the matchmaker. I want to make sure if she's an old lady or a young one.
"What does she look like? Most matchmakers are older."
"Exactly." I nodded a little. "Rosy doesn't look like one of them. She's young, good-looking, seems affectionate, and. ." I paused, not realizing the words that had escaped my lips. I shook my head to clear my mind, and Xavion chuckled.
"It's the first time I've heard that from you, Hendrix," he said with a mischievous smile. "So, she's good-looking, affectionate, and?" His brow slightly rose as he waited for me to finish my sentence.
"Damn it, I don't know what I'm saying," I looked away, pacing in the other direction.
"So, what are your plans? Are you really ignoring your mother's request this time?"
"No. I'm not... This will be the last. I already made a deal with my mother and I will not break that." I paced out again.
"It's just that I'm not sure about Rosy. I'm sure she's fake. She's not the real deal. She's faking her identity, and I need to find the right Rosy." I stepped out of the kitchen room, and Xavion followed me.
"Okay. . . And what's the plan?" He is now beside me.
"Simple. I already gave her two days to provide the list I wanted, and today is the day for that. I bet she will probably come up with excuses for this. It's not easy to check on everyone, especially those who are highly profiled," I chuckled.
"You think so?" Xavion grinned, unconvinced.
"Yes. I'm confident." I released an air after we reached the veranda.
The view of the garden from this angle is my favorite. I can see the footpath leading to the other side of the farm, and it's breathtaking.
"Let's wait and see. The day has just started, Hendrix. It's not even midday yet. She still has plenty of time." He chuckled and shook his head like he was having fun of this.
I lost my smile. I prefer not to have any further contact with her and I would rather not see her.
Soon after thirty minutes, my phone rang. It was on top of the wooden table. I strode closer to check who was calling, and my eyebrows creased because it was an unregistered number.
I never pick it up. It's not my nature to answer a call that's not on my list. I always wait, just in case. If it's important, people will leave me a message. If not, they're just stalkers or scammers, and I can't deal with them.
This country's intelligence gathering is becoming vulnerable due to easily accessible information about our phone numbers, which can be obtained by hackers. Most scams involve automated machine voice recorders.
"Hi, Hendrix. It's Rosy here. I wonder if you are available for lunch? I would love to meet you. I've already made the list for you. I'll call you again in ten minutes. Goodbye."
It's Rosy's voice that is recorded in my voice messages. Xavion laughed when he heard it, and my jaw tightened after listening to it.
Damn. What the hell? Is this happening for real?
"It seems like you are going out for lunch, right? Have fun." Xavion tapped my shoulder and grimaced at me.
As quick as it is, I managed to book a private room for us to meet at Blue Bells Café. This place is easy for me to access as the business is in Xavion. He owned the place and it was his idea that Rosy and I should meet here and talk things out in private.
I already ordered a light lunch for us. I'll assume that it's going to be a short conversation for us. I will see what she got and will check on everything. I'm still skeptical about her. I don't trust her yet.
After twenty minutes, she arrived on time and was guided by Miss Maine, the head staff member.
"Did you wait long? Oh, I'm so sorry. I should have arrived a little earlier, but I received an emergency call, so I stopped at the clinic before coming here," she said, almost running out of breath.
"I'm so sorry. I was like running a marathon. Luckily, I'm on time!" she chuckled. Her eyes beamed at me in happiness. "I never expected that you would come before me." She then sat down across from me. Her eyes quickly surveyed that table.
I looked at her intently, almost memorizing her appearance when we first met. Now, upon seeing her for the second time, I noticed that her fashion is outdated but not bad. She is still stunning.
"Excuse me, miss?" she called out to the staff member who was about to leave.
"Can we have the menu, please?" She smiled at the head staff, Miss Maine.
I cleared my throat. "I already put an order for us," I informed her. Now, as I glance at Miss Maine, the head staff, I say...
"Please start to make my order now, Miss Maine."
"Yes, Sir." Miss Maine slightly nodded and exited the room.
"It was only a light meal. More like a refreshment," I told Rosy.
"Oh, that's fine! I'm not that hungry. I had two coffee this morning and a piece of toast. That's my normal breakfast," she slightly giggled.
"By the way, I have the complete list now. Would you like to review it?" Her eyes sparkled in excitement.
My eyes widened a little. Our eyes met, and I felt the magical flick in my chest. My heart hammered. . . What the heck!
She quickly grabbed the folder she had with her when she entered. She put them earlier on the chair next to her before sitting down.
"All in all, I have ten sweet, beautiful ladies on the list. They're the most eligible woman around Castleburgh and Dalton. They are all from reputable families." She stood up slightly and handed the folder to me.
I accepted it, but my eyes shifted to her waist pocket as something sparkled from there. Not to my intention to look her on that side, but it seems like the one that sparkles is the tail of a G-Dragon.
I furrowed my brows and looked at it again, but she had already sat down.
