Hendrix
.
"Your mother is not blind, Hendrix. She knows, of course. What do you expect?"
I assisted Elle with her task of applying gold lining thread on the side cover of each book. I was about to visit her at home. Luckily, I called before driving to their mansion. Axton is not at home because her husband just returned from Greece, and the two are spending the day bonding together.
"Be honest, Hendrix, and listen to your heart. Pretending to be Louise's fiancé is a mistake. You will only end up hurting her. Trust me."
I chuckled and shook my head. My hands were busy doing the same thing as hers, but my ears were all hers as I listened.
"This isn't a good joke, Hendrix. If you're doing this because of what she did, then forget about it! You need to move on." She whirled halfway and reached for another gold thread.
"A contract is a contract, Elle. This is my business," I smirked.
"Really? A business, huh?" She laughs a little bit.
"You are impossible. It's obvious that Louise has no other option but to put up with your game. Aren't you even curious about what she truly feels about you?" She handed me another gold thread.
"Thank you," I said as I accepted it.
"Curiosity is not on me, Elle. It's not in my dictionary." I shook my head, concentrating on what I was doing. "I always stick to my plan," I added.
"Then make sure not to fall in love with her, okay? Because if you do, you will regret it." She rolled back her eyes and laughed.
"Falling in love is not in my vocabulary, Elle." I bite my lower lip, and the image of Louise dances in my mind. My jaw tightened, and a lingering feeling was growing inside me. I shook my head. It's painful, but I will get over it once I move her out of my system.
"Good luck!" She shook her head, looking at me in mischief.
After a few hours, I head back to my penthouse and quickly freshen myself. I have no work today and no dates with Louise. It's no hassle, and I will be chilling with the boys later at our normal spot.
I haven't heard anything from Louise at all. After dropping her off last night, I kept myself busy so that I would not think of her, but it was impossible because, truthfully, I couldn't get her out of my mind.
Xavion, Bryce, Linus, and Atticus are with me. We are enjoying playing the typical games we always play: chess and billiards.
"I heard Enzo and his wife will be visiting soon," Linus uttered beside me.
"Yes, they are coming next week. He said he would catch up with us."
"How are you doing with your dating thing, Hend?" Bryce looked at me with a mischievous grin. "Any improvements?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
I shook my head and just silently drank my beer. Linus scoffed with a tiny laugh.
"So, when exactly is the wedding? I hate hearing all this bullshit news nowadays about you, bro. Dating various types of women from different backgrounds is not advisable," Linus stated, appearing unimpressed.
"Hendrix is still young and has plenty of time to play. Don't worry about him. He's capable and knows what he's doing," Xavion said defensively.
Linus approached and held a billiard stick. "You know what? You two are quite alike." He looked at Xavion and me. "I hope you are not interested in a very complicated woman, Hendrix. Don't be like me... like us," he said, gazing at Xavion ahead. We all laughed.
