The worst part of my job was when I had to punish those who broke the law. That punishment was banishment. And Frederick Tollfield had broken the law. Frederick was the one who blew up the thrusters of my ship.
I knew Frederick Tollfield. Frederick was the son of Thomas and samantha. He was also the older brother of his 10 year old sister, mary. Frederick just turned 18 years old he was about to take his father's job as head of security on the store level.
But I had to banish him off of the ship. Banishment consists of going to a nearby planet and giving him the food (including seeds) and water to survive. It was up to him to figure out how to survive.

___________

After 2 days of being in the brig. The security officers from the bridge escorted Frederick to the public square of the workers quarters where his family was and several of the citizens placed witness to the judgment of banishment that I had to give.
Thomas health Samantha close to him as she cried. Samantha could hardly watch as her son face judgment. When I gave the judgment she cried all the louder as she washed your son be led away by security.
One by one each citizen turned and walked away as Frederick disappeared around the corner my heart sank as I watched a mother cry for her son. She would never see him again. My heart broke for her. I hope I would never feel as the Tollfield's did.

_________

The shuttle that Frederick was loaded into was put on autopilot. It would take him to the planet with a breathable atmosphere that we had stopped our ship above. The family had the right to watch the shuttle with their loved one on it enter the atmosphere.
We traveled on after the shuttle was out of sight. Looking for a new Earth after all these years of travel. You would think that we would have found something. But we didn't it was getting frustrating.
14 years have gone by since then. That means I have been a captain for 34 years. I was not 52 and getting lonely. I wanted to start getting out there and start dating. People were starting to suspect that I would be single forever.

________

I met somebody on one of my walks. I saw her through a window across the street. She was beautiful. Long flowing dirty blonde hair. Eyes that were the lightest shade of blue that I had ever seen. They said in two of the most unusually shaped eyes that showed off the ample round cheeks. I wondered what the rest of her body look like. I only saw her from the chest up.
I am not one to look at the chest of a woman. The breast didn't matter to me. It was what was on the inside that counted, the heart. I was falling in love. Just by sight alone.
I ended up finding out where she worked. She worked part-time in a clothing store on the shop level, Samantha's Tailoring. If I had recognized the name I may not have done what I did.
I got up the nerve and walked into Samantha's tailoring and walked right up to the counter where the girl of my dreams was working. I introduced myself. She looked straight at me and angrily said ", I KNOW WHO YOU ARE. YOU BANISHED MY BROTHER."
I just looked at her and my mouth dropped open and the wheels of my mind start to turn to the past. I had only banished one person and that was 14 years ago. Frederick Tollfield. He had a 10-year-old sister. Then it hit me. This was Mary.
Then she just angry said ", DON'T YOU REMEMBER?! DON'T YOU REMEMBER MY BROTHER!"
Well I could let's say,", I'm sorry"
Mary just looked at me and angry said ", I DON'T NEED YOUR SORRY. MY MOTHER DIED OF A BROKEN HEART AND MY DAD BECAME AN ALCOHOLIC. I HAD TO TAKE CARE OF HIM. HE THEN DIED 5 YEARS LATER WHEN I WAS ONLY 15 YEARS OLD. I ENDED UP TAKING MY MOTHER'S POSITION WHEN I TURNED 18. YOU TURN MY LIFE UPSIDE DOWN BECAUSE YOU BANISHED MY BROTHER ALL THOSE YEARS AGO."
The Mary took her finger and pointed her shaky finger at the door and yell ", GET OUT!"
I did as she said. I turned and walked out the door. My shot at finding a mate and having children without the door at the same time I walked out of it.

__________

I was turning 55 years old I walked down to the store level and went into the grocery as I normally did. This time was different though. This time I was approached by a short beautiful woman with dirty blonde hair.
Introduced yourself as Florence Hindecker. Went to the local cafeteria and we talked for at least 45 minutes I had to get back home as did she. We decided to make a date to go to the movies.
I picked her up and we went walking to the movie theater. You saw a horror flick. It was a remake of an old horror classic, Texas Chainsaw Massacre. They made a remake of this movie several times. This was the best remake so far.
Florence night dated for about 4 months. But we had to keep a secret. It was against the law today somebody from a lesser class. You had to date somebody from your own class. You could be banished for doing so. I didn't want that for florence. So we kept our relationship a secret.
7 months of secrecy. I couldn't do this anymore. I had to tell somebody about my relationship. Maybe if I asked her to begin with me. I did ask her too. But she said to me ", I would love nothing more. But I can't."
Then she said ", I couldn't move in with her."
And then she said something that I knew was the right thing to do. Florence said ", and tell things change we have to keep this relationship secret. You know this. You are people should know this."
It came to me. I could change the law. I can make it that it was possible to intermingle with a lesser class and you would not get in trouble for it.
I suggested my idea to Florence. She loved it. once Florence was on board. I printed off the proper forms to change the law. Right away when the law came up on my desk I signed it the announcement was made and the law of permanent.
6 days later I introduced Florence to my friends and she moved in 3 months later. We have been going out for 10 months now. Everything was good.
All my friends could see how happy I was. Even my job is Captain had improved. Things were great. I even begin thinking about marriage. Me... Married.
I wanted to talk to my dad and ask him for advice on how I should propose. But I couldn't. My dad was dead. He couldn't give me any advice.
I eventually did ask Florence to marry me. I asked her on our first anniversary. I took her out to eat at her favorite restaurant. Then I took it to the movie theater where I had bought a receipt so we would be the only only one is there.
When the movie starts to play it was a video of her favorite singer singing to her. It was the song I wrote to propose to her. Then I got up and bent down to one knee and presented the ring. Immediately she said ", yes"we got married 6 months later.
