There was a soft sound of bird singing, the sun rising up slowly as the sunlight began to light up the room. The window curtains left open, the sound of an alarm ringing as someone's hands went to grab the phone and turn it off. Kanao yawned as she began to run her eyes a little. "Better start getting up Genya" she began grabbing him, pushing him back and forth before she saw him opening his eyes. "Good morning!" She yelled brightly, her eyes full of light as Genya's gaze met hers. "Just give me five more minutes..."
"That's what they all say and they never get up in those 5 minutes!" She laughed and slowly pushed him off the bed, his head landing on the pillow that fell off during their sleep. "I'm surprised you wanted to get up.... ain't it your graduation week?" Genya asked, stretching a little as Kanao thought about it. "I mean, I'm not all that nervous anymore..sure I'm sad I'm gonna be leaving after 4 years of being here and meeting you and others, but I'll still try to keep in touch!"
He smiled, but being in a grade just below her, it made his heart sink of how fast she already had to go. Because college students can be much busier than normal high school students. They have less time to spend. Not to mention a few weeks ago, Kanao got accepted into a collage across town, so she would be moving in a new dorm as well, so he would hardly see her when she returned home.
(According to their little academy universe, Kanao was a grade above Genya, though Genya is indeed older by a few months)
Because of this, the two decided to make the memories count while it lasted being in the same school together, though they will see each other during the summer, it won't always be the same with their planned family vacations and stuff. During that entire week, the sound of many conversations about summer and reunions being planned and promised. Many people are trending together in the hallway, some making memories as much as they can. The yearbooks being passed around the school and stuff..
Genya watched as Kanao had to leave his side many times because of seniors week, even getting separate lunches sometimes. But whenever they did have time, they always continued walking home together, replaying the memory of when it first happened in their head. Hands together, a tight bond and hands wrapping around their hearts. Genya began to wonder what would have happened if he never caught Kanao under those bleachers that day...
While Kanao wondered what would have happened if she had taken the right turn that day. Could the two have possibly met in a different way? However, it did feel like they were supposed to meet in this way, like faith. "hey I'm gonna help make dinner tonight, if you wanna try some!" Genya nodded, offering to help her with whatever. He wanted to make as many memories with her as possible before she had to leave for college.
But before they knew it, Kanao was already laying out her graduation attire for tomorrow, fixing and organizing her hat as Genya began cleaning out his backpack a little in her room. When suddenly, he found something special. When Kanao bumped into him that day, she also dropped something...

It was later in the day, Kanao organizing her gown as she began to live up with the other seniors for their finale parade around the school. When she walked, she waved at Genya, her friends, every face she knew and got along with, a year almost shedding when she passed by that hallway. The memory still fresh in her man, even walking through that gun was almost difficult, her walking into the stage on the same field she always performed at.
Waiting in line with the other kids, she watched as the students began to crowd around her. Many people shed tears, cheers and speeches being heard as each student walked by and walked down. Soon, "Tsyuri Kanao!" The only time where Kanao would never hear her name said in the same way again. Walking up, grabbing her diploma, she waved at the Kanao as she laughed when Nezuko yelled out in the crowd, "I KNOW HER!"
"Congratulations love!" Kanao blushed at her boyfriend congratulating her. She walked down and lined up with the other students, the sound of others crying and cheering heard all around her. Throwing her hat up in the air and catching it as she ran with her friends as they crowded around her and hugged her tightly. The sound of promising to be together was again heard. Everyone found themselves walking back to Kanao's house, Shinobu and Kanae talking about the price of flight tickets for their planned trip with Kanao for graduating, as Kanao's friends kept talking about that to do after when they graduate..
However, Genya turned to Kanao and Kanao turned to him and smiled, "What's up?"

But he knew now, no matter how far she was, her soft presence would always linger..

Thank you guys for 800+ reads and for joining me on a short but long journey. I say that because during the beginning of the making I didn't update the book as much, now towards the end I did. Think about making another story of these two some day but we'll see.
This ship was super underrated, and to find myself liking this ship to make a story was quite surprising.
