Chapter Ten:

"So, about my three wishes." Ares rolled the words on his tongue, letting them fill the air between him and his personal demigod. He enjoyed seeing Percy's expression harden at the words, struggling to stay indifferent.

"What do you want?" Percy muttered. They were sitting in a beautiful red pagoda, Japanese-style, drinking tea they'd bought from a nearby stand.

Well, Percy drank tea. Ares drank his nectar.

The area they were in, within Golden Gate Park, was called the "Japanese Tea Garden." It was uniquely designed in a Japanese style. The flowers, streams, bridges, small waterfalls, Buddha statues (which Ares glared at unpleasantly), and the Japanese pagodas were all meant to create an atmosphere of calm, peace, and love. Even though the place wasn't specifically for couples, Percy felt his cheeks flush as they strolled together through this area. The silence had a way of bringing people closer, making him feel awkward.

"Let's talk about their rules." Ares continued, smirking as Percy rolled his eyes.

"You've got nothing to complain about, loser. We're wasting an entire day in the most irresponsible, immature way possible just to fulfill your greedy desires, so when I ask- you're going to give yourself to me." Ares reached out and gently stroked Percy's face.

"Whatever you say," Percy stretched, trying to keep his cool, "just say it already."

"Are you calling me a bore?"

"See a pillow around here?"

In the next moment, Percy's tea cup flew from his hand, and his back hit the floor of the pagoda as Ares pinned him down, climbing over him.

"I wasn't done drinking my tea," Percy spoke in a voice trying so hard to stay calm, and Ares relished in the half-blood's attempts to stay tough in front of him.

"When I ask, and I will ask, you'll do everything I want. I can ask for anything that comes to mind, and if you don't like it, we can discuss it, but the final decision is mine. I can ask for any of my three wishes whenever I want, at any moment, in any situation. Do you understand, Sea Boy?"

Percy locked his green eyes onto Ares' sharp features, engraving every line into his mind.

Ares leaned closer, keeping Percy from moving. The younger swallowed as Ares' hands tightened around his wrists. The air between them was charged with so many unspoken emotions and promises. Percy found himself being drawn in, falling into the world of this god, getting lost in those blazing eyes that hid something unknown at their depths.

"Fine." He finally managed to say.

"Swear it on the River Styx," Ares grinned mischievously.

"I swear on the River Styx," Percy muttered. Something inside him told him he was making a mistake, but Ares' hips pressing against his distracted him.

Thunder echoed in the sky, and Percy knew it was too late to back out now. But as he looked into the eyes of the god of war, he realized with frustration that a part of him didn't want to back out either.

Yes, his heart still ached, still bled from the scars left by Apollo, but it seemed his heart had jumped ahead, leaving Percy's mind to catch up.

Is he falling for Ares?
