The Vortian owned planet of Resistaria was not only poorly-named, Dib thought, but slightly boring. A perfect planet on which to set up a home base. Zim's cyan and purple house was resurrected here, and Dib and he had been living as roommates for maybe a week. Time was different here. All in all though, Dib loved it. He finally felt at home. He and Zim were not even close to being the weirdest of the refugees who had flooded here seeking shelter from the Armada.
As Dib worked hard in the labs everyday, building machines and sharing his theories with people who actually appreciated them, he heard more and more horror stories about the atrocities that Tallest Red and Purple (yes, those were their actual names!) had committed.
One former Irken soldier told him that he had gotten thrown out the airlock on the Massive for no apparent reason; another Vortian informed him that he had been forced to work in a sweatshop on his own planet, which was previously in a peace treaty with the Irken Empire.
Dib shuddered with disgust at these stories, but he always kept going.
On the other hand, Zim seemed to be living his best life on Resistria. The little guy knew everything about the Armada, seeing as how he had trained with the Tallest as a Smeet! Invader Zim was now Commander Zim, and while it didn't have the same ring to it, Zim wore the title with pride. He had made good friends for the first time in his life, unlike the Tallest.
Gir had found solace in some other 'unusual' SIR units to say the least.
Dib had made friends too, though. Especially one specific Irken...
Erin was very special. She was the only known Irken in existence whose creation was biological, and not out of a test tube. Her organs were a little different due to this, and she didn't require a PAK. It was this that make Dib like her, for his biology was also human enough to not have to wear it, but he wore it anyway. In fact, Dib's arms had vitiligo-like patches of his original skin color on his arm. He didn't believe that would ever fade.
"When I was born," Erin once told Dib, "my parents tried to hide away, but one of the old Tallests, Spork, found out about me. They took me away for experimentation." She shuddered involuntarily, and touched a light blue stub on her head. "They cut this antenna off."
Erin's antennae were just as quirky as she was; long and wavy instead of the curled up geometrical ones expected from female Irkens.
She didn't reject her past, but neither did she embrace it. She wore no makeup: her startling orange eyes were attractive enough by themselves, but her clothes certainly caught attention.
She wore a long, neon pink scarf, couples with a blue and purple sleeveless tee, and a short black skort, but she still wore her Irken standard issue black boots and gloves.
Not that Dib found her pretty... No... Yes, she just provided comfortable companionship.
...And she supported what he had to do.
