2021-Chicago, Illinois
"Hey, Angie."
She looked up from her computer and smiled at her coworker. "Hi, Charlie."
"I brought you a coffee." He set the white cup down on her desk.
"Oh, thanks."
"Hey, I was wondering if you maybe wanted to grab dinner tonight?"
"Dinner? Like a...like a date?"
"I mean, not unless you want it to be."
"I just haven't been on a date in a while."
"Yeah, of course. I totally get it."
"That wasn't a no."
"It wasn't?"
"No."
"Then in that case, does seven o'clock work?"
"Seven is perfect."
"Great. It's a date."
She grinned as he walked away.

Angie stared at herself in her full body mirror. She was smoothing her red dress when Sophia walked into her room.
"You're so pretty, Mommy."
Angie smiled and knelt down to her daughter's level. "Thank you, baby. You're pretty too."
"Not like you."
"But you look just like me. So that means you have to be pretty."
"Uncle Neil says I look like Daddy."
"Uncle Neil's kinda right. You have your daddy's ears."
"Is that good?"
"Mhm. He has cute ears. And so do you."
The knock on the door caused Sophia to light up with excitement. She ran out of the room and reached up to unlock the door.
"Hey, princess."
"Daddy!" She jumped into his arms and squeezed him. "I missed you!"
"You saw me two days ago."
"I still missed you."
"I missed you too."
"I know it's only Tuesday, but thank you for taking her." Angie came out of the room and set Sophia's bag down on the couch.
"Of course. I'll take her whenever." He looked over to Angie and froze. "Woah."
"What?"
"You look-"
"She looks pretty!" Their daughter chimed in.
"That's an understatement."
"Thank you."
"Where ya going?" He set the girl down as he began to question Angie.
"A friend asked me to dinner."
"She's going on a date."
