THIRD PERSON'S POV

Seth was up bright and early, singing in the shower, which annoyed Leah to no end. Sue just chuckled at her son's behaviour as she handed her daughter a cup of tea with honey in it. She had already made Seth a birthday hot cocoa, which was really just a normal hot cocoa but with ice cream and rainbow sprinkles added to the top of the drink. Seth loved them anyway. Sue laughed when he told her she'd still be making him one when he's forty, but she didn't miss the fact that he said it so seriously and was most likely not joking.

"Someone's excited," Sue commented as Leah took a sip of her steaming drink, making her hum in contentment.

"He was up until like, one, messaging her, Mom," Leah replied, making her mother throw her head back and laugh.

Leah had been attempting to watch a movie in the living room, to no avail, as Seth kept on coming in and out of his room to make snacks or to take the dog out, his eyes never leaving his phone. He burnt the popcorn she asked him to make, and the smell still lingered in the kitchen. He also decided to clean the house top to bottom, which also annoyed her, but she was grateful as it saved her from doing so.

"She's coming for breakfast, you know, her and her father," Sue told her daughter, who choked on her tea, spluttering as it went down the wrong way.

"What?" Leah asked incredulously, then continued coughing.

Sue's eyes widened, and she placed her own cup down to hit her daughter firmly on her back, making her stop coughing.

"Leah, you okay?" Seth called out as he came down the stairs rounded the corner, his body spray entering the room before he did.

Both Leah and Sue scrunched up their noses.

"You stink, nerd," Leah said, downing the rest of her tea then putting the cup in the sink for her brother to wash up, shoulder checking him as she went to the bathroom to shower and make herself presentable to the guests.

Sue sighed, putting down her cup of coffee and placed both hands onto her son's shoulders.

"I'm saying this with love. Your sister's right. Go stand outside until some of that stuff wears off."

Seth's shoulder's dropped slightly as he heard the shower turn on. The bathroom door opened, and Leah stuck her head out through the gap.

"Happy birthday, I love you a million. Your present is on my dresser," Then she was gone again.

Seth perked up, calling out a 'Thank you!' And padded up the stairs to Leah's room, opening the door and reaching for the parcel wrapped in red and blue wrapping paper, and the card sat next to it. He took it back to the living room, sitting the parcel on the couch.

He immediately went for the card, trying to ignore the $50 bill as he read the words.

Dearest baby brother,

I love you so much. You are my favourite human being in the entire world. I'll never stop looking out for you.

With love,
Leah.

P.S. — This gift matches a present (Y/N) received this morning. I asked Alice for help.

Seth thanked God that he had a sister like Leah, and pocketed the $50, then carefully unwrapped the present, trying not to rip the wrapping paper.

There was a cardboard box which Seth was pretty sure he saw up in the attic one time. He looked on the side of it, and saw the words 'CHRISTMAS LIGHTS' scrawled across the side in black, making his raise an eyebrow.
