CHAPTER SEVEN

Kayden's POV

Being the first one to arrive, i didn't feel good about it, i attempted to get back into my car and go have a drink before returning. But luck wasn't on my side, mrs humphrey saw me;

"Kayden is here!" She yelled, hurrying towards me.

Oh boy, what an announcement that was.

"It's good to see you again ma'am." I hugged her.

"Ma'am? Come in boy." She held me by the hand and pulled me. Entering the mansion, grandma welcomed me with a hug and kisses on both cheek, then she lured to dining room.

"I have to send an invitation before i get to see my grandsons? That's not nice you know." I watched the old woman pout.

"Grandma, you know we're busy taking care of the company." I attempted an excuse.

"Oh shut up, you've always been a lousy liar."

"Is Zane coming?" I asked, knowing he wouldn't dare to ignore grandma's call.

"Of course he will, even though he tried to bail out."

At that moment, i heard the revving sound of zane's car pulling up and i braced myself. He walked in, swinging his keys around his finger like i normally did in the past, he was in a foul mood i could tell.
"Grandma." He kissed her cheeks.

"Hello brother." I said and tried to shake him, but he ignored me as usual.

"Caden Zane Hudson, you will not ignore your twin in my presence."

Zane sighed, "Hello perfect son of the hudson family. I see you beat me to the meeting, that's a first, seeing that you always come late for every family gathering until today."

"I didn't..." i sighed. "It wasn't intentional."

"Whatever. Either you come first or last, you always got the spotlight." He forced a grin and then turned to grandma.
"How are you ma?"

"What's with your nonchalant behavior these days? You've always been the reserved one when kayden acted out." Grandma asked

"Maybe it's my turn to act out, right?" He turned to me.

"Are you fit to be driving yourself around? You should let your driver ta...."

"You should learn to mind your damn business."

"Are you sick son?"

"It's just a fever grandma, your grandson is just making a big deal out of nothing." He said as he stared daggers at me.

The meal was served and we were alone in the room, grandma asked about our daily lives and the affairs of the company. Then the topic i've been dreading came up, i could tell zane wasn't expecting that as well, judging from the way he choke on his food.

"Grandma!" We both called.

"I'm not ready for a wife grandma."

Grandma turned towards me,
"Oh no don't look at me, i'm not ready either."

"Shut it stupid, you're the biggest flirt in this family, a girl should have locked you down by now but you probably scare them away, you hard hearted rascal."

Zane chuckled, it was the first time i saw him do that, even if it was as a result of his satisfaction for grandma cursing at me, i was really happy to see him smile after so many years. I could understand why he resents me, but it really wasn't my fault our parents treated me the way they did. No matter what i did, they always treated me differently and made him study hard, sometimes he got punished for my mistakes. When i tried to make our parents dislike me by becoming unruly and obnoxious, he still got blamed for it.

Flashback

Kayden:
"Dad, mom, you need to pay more attention to zee, try to show him affection so very often, i don't want to think you both don't love him."

Mrs Hudson:
"What makes you say that? But we love him as much as we love you."

Kayden:
"Ever wondered why he hates me? It's because you only give your love and attention to me. Today is our birthday, but you're here with me, without him."

Mr Hudson:
"Well, it was his idea you both attended different schools. Despite your mother's plea, he insisted on attending a different school."

Mrs Hudson:
"Besides, we are still going over to him once we're done here."

Kayden:
"You are?"

Mrs Hudson:
"Of course, he's also our son."

Mr Hudson:
"We do love him, we just want him to be properly groomed to take care of the family when the time comes. Even if you both are a pair, he came out first, all first sons of the hudson family are never born to be weak. They have a lot of responsibilities and great expectations ahead of them, we only want him to fit in those shoes perfectly, but we do love him so very much.

Kayden:
"He doesn't know that, i think you should tell him, he needs to hear it.

Mr. Hudson:
"I will have a talk with him as soon as we see him son. Never take your brother's action to heart, he only pretends to hate you."

Mrs Hudson:
"Zane loves you kay, i will talk to him as well. Now get rid of that frown and give me a bright smile."

They just had to get involved in an accident the same day they were supposed to tell him how much they loved and adored him, and he blamed me for their death too.

"You both get a wife or i'll get one for you." Grandma said, hitting her cane on the floor to show her seriousness.

"It's not like you'll make us go on blind dates." I scoffed

"Exactly, i'll arrange one for caden this weekend." She said

Oops, why did i have to say something so stupid.
Zane glared at me.
Great, now he was literally ready to tear me into pieces.

"Grandma, that won't be necessary." I tried to do damage control.

"Why? He has a woman already?"

"No."

"That's great, you both are going on a date by weekend."
