I wasn't surprised when I saw the university building. It had a Victorian look and feel which blended in perfectly with the town's aesthetic. It gave that Oxford vibe. The chauffeur stopped at the front gate and came out of the car.
He opened the door on my side and I thanked him as I got out, he nodded once and got into the car before driving off. Students walked past me from different directions, filling the whole place.
''How many people are in this town?'' I asked myself.
There were humans everywhere. I clutched the strap of my bag and made my way through the freshly cut lawn towards the entrance. I was looking at the names of the offices and didn't notice the person in front of me until I bumped into them. Whoever it was was built like a wall cause I lost my footing and felt myself tilting backward.
I closed my eyes, waiting for the impacts which luckily enough were prevented due to strong arms that circled my waist, pulling me forward. I opened my eyes and blinked twice trying to focus my vision. The first thing I saw was blonde. The guy had startling blonde hair that would put Adrien Agreste to shame. It sat in a messy heap on top of his head and fell around his face, framing it.
He had beautiful hazel eyes, a perfectly placed straight nose, and slightly thin cupid's bow-shaped lips. He flashed a lop-sided grin and my eyes traced down his neck to his shoulders the arms around me. I stepped back abruptly, adjusting my sweater vest.
''Are you okay? I didn't mean to bump into you.'' I said apologetically, looking up. He just stared at me for a few minutes as though awestruck before shaking his head and smiling.
''Nah it's cool, happens to the best of us.'' He said with a smile. His voice was smooth and easy on the ears. He had an Australian accent though it wasn't too pronounced it sounded nice.
''Alright,'' I replied and made a move to sidestep him when he spoke up.
''You're new here right?'' He asked.
''Uh...yeah I am. How'd you know?'' I asked. He chuckled and shifted his weight to his left leg.
''well you look different from other students plus your accent is unique,'' He stated. I furrowed my brows at the statement. My accent? it's Columbian though it sounds different from my mum's.
''Ah....thanks? It's just a regular Spanish accent.'' I said to which he shook his head.
''Nah nah...It's not just a Spanish accent, there's another one mixed in but I can't.....'' He scrunched up his nose as he thought about it.
Then his eyes lit up in a child-like manner. ''Is it Arabic?'' He grinned. I smiled at his childish behavior and nodded. ''Yasss...I knew it!'' He exclaimed. ''So where are you heading too?'' He asked.
''To get my class schedule,'' I replied.
''Awesome. I'll show you the way to the admin's office, then I'll personally take you to your first class.'' He grinned.
''Is all that necessary?'' I asked.
''I don't mind at all,'' he replied.
''Alright. Thank you.'' I smiled. ''What's your name?'' I asked. Realizing I didn't even introduce myself. Smooth....real smooth Thalira...
''Lysander King. Sorry, I didn't introduce myself earlier. I'm used to people knowing who I am'' He chuckled sheepishly.
''That's cool really. I'm Thalira Quinn. Nice to meet you.'' I said, extending my hand towards him for a handshake but instead of doing that he suddenly grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards himself.
