"Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it."
— Confucius
The mark looked like a bruise and it looked fresh. I pulled his shirt down slightly and gasped. They were rounded or oval-shaped marks which were reddish in appearance, some were darkening to deep blue or purple. It went on beneath the base of his neck downwards.
I felt rage wash through my body. How could someone be so cruel? To beat up a child for a reason that wasn't even his fault. I exhaled to expel the anger brewing in my soul.
I slowly stood up and cleared the chocolate wrappers from the bed and went to the bathroom to take a shower. I walked out of the bathroom to find him still fast asleep.
I heard my phone's notification bell and quietly rushed over to pick it up. It was a text from an unknown number. I opened it.
''Hi, good evening Thali.'' The text read. I didn't even need to ask to know who it was. There was only one person who called me that. I gnored it and placed the phone down. Another text came in and I read it.
''Please don't ignore me. We need to talk.'' It said.
Of course, we do. I thought sarcastically. So much for normalcy...this town wants to drive me crazy. Maybe I should move towns? or country? I'll just take Aaron with me.
I put my phone on dnd and placed it on the desk. I climbed back into bed, making myself comfortable, and turned off the lights.
¬The following morning¬
I woke up to a weight on my chest. Not metaphorically but an actual weight. I tried to exhale but it wasn't as easy. I tried standing up but I couldn't as I felt it wrap around me like a snake.
Wait.....it couldn't be...
My eyes flew open and I was met with dark unruly curls in my line of vision. I tried to raise my head but each movement made him tighten his hold on me. I blushed crimson. I could swear I would get a nosebleed.
''Aaron?'' I called softly. ''Aaron,'' I called again, this time shaking him a little. He stirred and adjusted a bit but this time he wrapped his legs around mine and his hands slipped beneath my top and settled on my bare stomach.
I felt heat rise to my cheeks as I shook him harder but he slept like the dead.
''He's not dead is he?'' I mumbled to myself but decided to let him sleep in a little longer not like I had a choice. Bro weighed a ton.
I took out my phone and opened the text messages from Ciara, Amelia and Chloe which were mostly checking up on me. There were others from Lysander and an unknown number. Out of curiosity, I opened that of the unknown number.
''You win. If you have my necklace please return it.'' It said. I smirked.
Bingo.
''I'm not sure I know who you are.'' I sent. It took him a full minute to reply.
''Meet me at the library tonight.'' He sent.
''I have engagements.'' I lied.
''Do you have to be so difficult?'' He sent. I could hear the agitation in his sexy voice.
