"In the midst of winter, I found there was,
within me, an invincible summer."
— Albert Camus
Students rushed out of the hall as soon as the bell went off. You'd think they all had a flight to catch. The class wasn't all that bad and I could tell Mr. Anderson knew what he was talking about.
I had 10 minutes before my biochemistry class began and I'd be honest....I have a strong dislike for this course.
It was never interesting to me but it was an important aspect of my course. I was packing up my stuff when I heard someone clear their throat behind me. I turned around to see a tall, slim strawberry blonde-haired girl with crossed arms and a judgemental look on her face.
She had ocean-blue eyes, a small nose, and plump-looking lips that were turned slightly downward.
''Can I help you?'' I asked with a raised brow. She simply flicked her hair and sighed.
''You're new here and I just wanted to let you know that there are rules which you must follow to be a part of the school system around here.'' She stated with the same look on her face.
''which are?'' I inquired.
''For starters, there is a certain hierarchy around here which comprises of the people you cannot approach and those who would ruin your social status if you interacted with them.''
She said, reaching into her purse to bring out a single gold card.
''Text me and I'll add you to the group and everything will be explained there.'' She handed the Card to me.
''Why do I have to do this exactly?'' I asked as I took the card and glanced at the name. Marilyn Stone, Head of The mist wood Sorority House. I could she lacked creativity cause who tf came up with this shit?
''You have the face and the physique we're looking for and it would be in your best interest to join us.'' She said with a look of indifference.
''And if I don't?'' I challenged.
''Well, you'll just have to wait and see what happens wh-...''
''Not interested,'' I said cutting her off. The mere thought of her offer giving me a migraine. The look on her face was amazing. I could have sworn I saw a pulsating vein on her temple.
''I'm sorry what?'' She asked in utter disbelief. I guess she was a spoilt princess who never got rejected.
''You heard me. I'm don't fancy flambouyant stuff anyway. '' I said and checked the time on my phone. ''And now i have two minutes to get to class. Nice to meet you though.'' With that i brushed past her and hurriedout of the hall.
The audacity... I chucked the card in my bag and proceeded down the hallway.
The class was boring, as expected, but I was still able to get some important points down. It was currently lunchtime and I was starving! I asked a few students for directions and headed there asap.
I pushed open the double doors leading to the cafeteria and was hit instantly by the aroma of beef and French toast. Compared to the rest of the building, the cafeteria was bright and modern in concept and design.
I grabbed a disposable plate and got in line, my stomach trying to embarrass me with the ungodly sounds it made.
''Don't worry amore, the food's almost here,'' I whispered with a gentle tap to my stomach.
